A dump truck spilled a load of sand and dirt on the 42 Freeway snarling traffic coming off the Atlantic City Expressway.

State Police said the truck tipped over and spilled three-quarters of its load onto the northbound lanes at College Drive in Gloucester Township leaving only the shoulder open. Traffic was backed up to the Atlantic City Expressway with Route 168 picking up some extra volume from people trying to get around the incident according to New Jersey Fast Traffic's Jill Myra.

Several pieces of heavy equipment including a crane and a bulldozer were used to cleanup the scene.

The exit is used to get to both Camden County College and the Gloucester Premium Outlets.

NJ Transit said bus route #554 between the Lindenwold PATCO station and Atlantic City was detoured around the incident.

The driver was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries.
