Sorry everyone else, this is the best pizza in New Jersey (Opinion)
Everyone in New Jersey has a favorite pizza place or at least a few recommendations on where to go for really good pizza.
We have listed many of the listener's favorites over the years and there are definitely a few classics that keep popping up.
It's rare for New Jerseyans to switch their allegiance once they've made up their mind on their favorite pizza. Often, it's an emotional or sentimental choice stemming from childhood or family preferences.
In the last few years, we've tried so many of the recommendations of friends or listeners and the one thing is clear. New Jersey has some of the best pizza places in the world. Really, we do. It's been a while since I've had my favorite pizza in New Jersey, and I almost forgot how much I like it and how really good it is.
My daughter and I drove an hour to the shore on a chilly February day to have some pizza. For those from South Jersey, they're probably already guessing it's Manco & Manco. It's Manco & Manco. I've been taking my kids there since they were babies, and they never disappoint.
Ocean City is a great family resort and if you're gonna drive an hour for pizza, at least it's nice!
Yeah, they were so popular and busy they bought the old movie theatre on the corner and combined 2 of their stores.
Manco & Manco is so popular they have a gift shop and people proudly display their logo as an endorsement.
All of their locations have the classic counter in front of the pizza ovens where the magic happen.
The chalkboard says it all:
You can sit at the counter and watch them make the pizzas.
The dining room at their main location is much bigger than the original shops.
True devotees get the plain, but there are more options now than in years past.
They have these unique ovens that circulate the pizzas in a merry-go-round motion.
The gift shop is almost as busy as the counter and there is a large party room to the left.
It is a work of art.
You can't wait for it to cool down, but separating the slices helps!
Many have tried to figure out the secret. Is it the sauce, the cheese, the ovens?
The crust is soft but it's thin with just the right amount of crispiness on the bottom. The sauce is perfection and rumor has it that the cheese is a blend of mild cheddar. If you're going on a Jersey pizza tour anytime this year, put this on your list. Guaranteed, you won't be disappointed.
