The new anti-bullying documentary Bully is out and it is being widely touted as the movie every teen should see.

Personally I’m of the opinion that the way to stop a bully is to confront him or her. I find bullies cowards who seek the attention of the group they hang out because they’ree not getting it at home.

One on one bullies are usually harmless. But if the anti bullying movie is to get them to feel bad about what they’re doing, I don’t even think they realize what they’re doing, nor would their parents admit it.

If I wanted to show my teen an anti bullying movie, I would pick something that would empower, and build confidence. A movie where the hero overcomes the adversity of bullies by winning them over. If they only knew how easy that is…(see bullies are cowards)

“Karate Kid” would be a great example but just the first one, none of the sequels. But if we’re talking movies that every teen should see, how about these, just for the fun of it and feel free to add your own in no particular order.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

21 Jump Street: shows just how much times have changed both from the original show as well as the original teen.

Animal House: If this doesn’t make you want to go to college, nothing will. ‘FOOD FIGHT”

Mean Girls: Maybe a little too close for comfort but see it anyway.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High:  There’s a little Spicoli in all of us….or is that just me?

Rudy- shows that one young man focused on a dream can achieve it, especially since it really happened.

Porky's: ok maybe just the teenage boys

American Grafitti- The movie about a last night together before they and the world would change forever. If for no other reason, see it for the music.

The Breakfast Club - Don’t you forget about this!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off- If you’re gonna cut school….CUT SCHOOL!

Rebel Without A Cause- James Dean is soo cool he remains cool even to this day.

What movies would you add to the list?
