NJ golfer keeps piling up wins

One of golf's brightest stars continues to shine in 2026.

For the third time this year, Chris Gotterup has won on the PGA Tour. This week, he won the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

Previously this year, he won the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Arizona.

Today was his fifth win on the PGA Tour.

Born in Maryland, Gotterup was raised in Little Silver, New Jersey, and played college golf at Rutgers from 2017-2021. He transferred to the University of Oklahoma for the 2021-2022 season, where he won the Haskins Award and Jack Nicklaus Award as the top college golfer.

Not only has he dominated on Tour this season, but check out just how much better he's been than other big-name golfers over the last calendar year.

The last major of the golf season is coming up in two weeks at the Open Championship. Although Gotterup has never won a major, you would be hard-pressed to find a golfer playing better than him coming into the event.

His play this year has almost certainly secured him a spot on this year's Presidents Cup team, and likely will get him a spot on next year's Ryder Cup team as well.

He would be a rookie in both events, but being one of the brightest young stars in the game, there's no doubt he would perform well.
