"Stuck On You" by Lionel Richie

(#10 last week) Not to be confused with the Elvis Presley song (1960) of the same name, this is one of Lionel's prettiest ballads. It is one of several to have that country-soul tinge he is noted for.

"If Ever You're In My Arms Again" by Peabo Bryson

(#5 last week) Another beautiful soul ballad. Peabo's real full name is Robert PeaPo Btyson. Peapo is French West Indian in origin, and was changed when several of his fellow musicians had difficulty pronouncing it.

"I Can Dream About You" by Dan Hartman

(#7 last week) Harrisburg native Hartman certainly had a varied career, with rock, pop, disco and soul hits. He sang lead & played guitar on the Edgar Winter Group's 1973 hit "Free Ride", scored big in the clubs with 1978's "Instant Replay" & hit big here with a movie theme (from "Streets Of Fire"). He passed on at the way-too-young age of 44.

"Cover Me"/"Jersey Girl" by Bruce Springsteen

(#11 last week) Both sides of the single charted together locally. "Cover Me" was the A side, 2nd single from "Born In The U.S.A.". "Jersey Girl" was already a fan favorite & "secret weapon" song for radio programmers. The hit version was recorded at the Meadowlands in 1981.

"The Warrior" by Scandal Featuring Patty Smyth

(#6 last week) Kick-butt rock & roll! I love lowering the car windows & blasting this one. Co-written by Nick Gilder ("Hot Child In The City") & Holly Knight, the writer of "Love Is A Battlefield". Smyth had a short-lived solo career, but soon faded into obscurity (undeservedly). She's been married to tennis great John McEnroe for many years.

    "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper

(#9 last week) I really can't describe what this song is about on a family website, but you can guess privately. Third hit in a row from the LP "She's So Unusual".

    "Missing You" by John Waite

(#4 last week) The former Babys lead singer with his first (& biggest) solo hit. He'd later front Bad English "(When I See You Smile"). Not to be confused either with the Ray Peterson song (1961) or the Diana Ross song (1985) of the same name.

    "When Doves Cry" by Prince

(#1 last week; was #1 for 9 weeks) One of the biggest hits of all time! Nine weeks at the top locally, but not consecutively--it was toppled from the top spor for one week right in the middle of the 9 by "Ghostbusters".

    "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr.

(#2 last week) Hard to imagine Lindsey Buckingham as the singer here, but he claims to have been approached by the movie's producers to do the theme. He, however, considered himself much more than a soundtrack singer (oooo-k). Parker came up with the idea of making the song sound like a commercial for the Ghostbusters service.

"What's Love Got To Do With It" by Tina Turner

(#3 last week; 1st week at #1) Offered to several major artists before Tina, including Cliff Richard & Donna Summer. The Grammy winning Record & Song Of The Year.
