The appearance comes just as Christie's reportedly been tapped to lead a new drug commission by the Trump administration. Fighting opioid addiction in New Jersey has long been a priority of the governor's, and this year prompted his controversial measure to limit initial prescriptions of the powerful, but addictive drugs. Christie also created a task force of his own to tackle New Jersey's addiction problems this year, his final year in office.

In the last few days, Christie has also called on the White House to pressure Cuba for the return of convicted cop killer Joanne Chesimard, who has been in Cuba for decades. And he's said he doesn't know of any evidence President Donald Trump was under surveillance by U.S. intelligence services.
