ASBURY PARK — A high risk search warrant was executed after police say a member of the Blood gang told several people he was plotting to kill a local police officer.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Monmouth County Sheriff Department, Neptune Township Street Crimes Unit and MOCERT assisted in the execution of the search warrant at the residence of Salik Hinton, 28, the gang member from Neptune, who police said made the threat against an Asbury Park police officer.

As a result of the first search, a second one was conducted at Hinton's parent's residence in Neptune and paraphernalia indicative of drug distribution along with $2,345 in cash was recovered.

Along with weapons, drugs and cash, a Cannondale bike police said is valued at over $800 was recovered. One of the defendants admitted they had purchased the bike from a drug addict on the streets for $5.

The defaced firearm was a loaded Hi-point .45 caliber handgun.

Hinton, 28, was charged with possession of a defaced firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of cocaine and prescription pills. He also had an active warrant out of the city.

Two other people were also arrested in the raid on the home on Church Street.

Willie Clark, 32, of Asbury Park, was charged with with possession of a defaced firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of cocaine and prescription pills. Shakira Smith, 31, also of Asbury Park, was charged with possession of a defaced firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of cocaine and prescription pills, and endangering the welfare of a minor.

The investigation is ongoing.
