Vineland cops in fatal shooting after call about ‘suspicious’ man

VINELAND — Prosecutors say they are investigating a shooting death involving city police officers.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office says Vineland police officers were dispatched at about 11:22 a.m. Saturday after a report of an unknown man acting suspiciously on the front porch of a residence.

Prosecutors say an encounter between the officers and the suspect lasted for several minutes and ended with the person shot and killed. Officials say the person hasn't been positively identified.

County prosecutors are investigating and asking anyone with information to contact them.
