Video appears to show Wildwood cop punching man on the street

WILDWOOD — The Cape May County Prosecutor's office his investigating a video that appears to show a city police officer punching a man on the street.

The video was shared by the Facebook group Citizens Against Abusive Power Systems, which said the incident took place on Roberts and New Jersey avenues. Neither the officer involved nor the man have been publicly identified but Police Chief Robert N. Regalbuto said the officer is still employed by the department.

According to the chief, the investigation was handed over to the Prosecutor's Office.

Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor told New Jersey 101.5 said the incident "is under investigation." He added that the officer, who has not been identified, is assigned to desk duty.
