AAA has released the top destinations New Jersey travelers plan to hit this summer.

Amusement parks such as Disney, Universal and Busch Gardens are tops for local New Jerseyans, as well as locations which are close to home such as the Jersey Shore, Philadelphia and the Baltimore Aquarium, according to AAA.

Nationwide, the Great American road trip is back with nearly 56 percent of Americans planning to hit the road this summer.

"Gas prices are the lowest that they have been in a number of years and that is sparking people to get back in their cars and take a road trip," said Tracy Noble spokesperson for AAA Mid-Atlantic.

Top domestic travel destinations include Orlando, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, according to AAA.

And international travel will also be popular.

"What we're seeing is that demand to Europe remains strong and that AAA summer travel bookings show that Rome and London are at the top of many traveler's itineraries," said Noble.

Other Locations that top the list are Cancun, Vancouver, Paris, and Dublin.
