This Weekend’s ‘Manning Bowl’ Leads to Soaring Ticket Prices
By Jeff Deminski
This Sunday is the Giants home opener against Denver. Eli vs. brother Peyton. Call it the Manning Bowl. How much interest is there? Lots. Ticket prices have soared to a ridiculous level. Over 3,000 tickets were listed on StubHub yesterday. Asking price for a midfield seat in the 16th row which normally face values at $140? Try $6,885. Even for the worst upper deck seat, about as far as you can get from the 50 yard line, a seat normally going for $85 has a starting price of $216.50.
According to NJ.com,
It’s the second highest NFL ticket in terms of sales so far this season, trailing only last Sunday’s contest between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers, according to StubHub. Demand doubled after Peyton Manning threw seven touchdown passes last Thursday. Sunday’s matchup has sold more tickets than the next two Giants home games combined, a StubHub spokeswoman said.
The Manning vs. Manning games are historically significant as well. It's the only time in NFL history brothers have opposed each other as starting quarterbacks.
