The Immigrant Conundrum…Tonight’s Show.

What if I were to tell you that all illegals aren’t illegal. You’d probably think I fell on my head. Which, if you listen to the show on a nightly basis, could lead one to that conclusion.

But, from where I sit, the plight of the Entchey family from North Brunswick screams governmental screw up.

Atanas Entchey is considered an expert in his field of geographical informational systems. He first arrived in this country on a nonimmigrant visa, and since that time, has been trying to upgrade his status, but to no avail. For whatever reason, any time he applied for legal residency, his application got bottled up in bureaucratic red tape.

We hear often enough of how the government drags its heels on matters such as these, and fails to go after illegals that commit violent crimes. This should sound a cautionary tale.

Despite his immigration problems, Mr Entchney has earned a master’s degree from Rutgers University, taught at Monmouth University and started his own urban planning geo-spatial information systems that does work for all levels of government.

Entrepreneurial in the legal sense! Not as it relates to the importation and sale of illegal drugs, but entrepreneurial in the sense that he is able to create wealth on the “up and up”.

The kind of entrepreneuship that Mayor Micheal Bloomburg was talking about earlier on the “O’Reilly Factor”. Someone who can produce wealth and conceivable put Americas to work.

It, unfortunately, will not happen as long as he sits in a detention cell in Newark.

However, at this moment, he’s been granted a Stay of Removal, so there is hope.

I don’t look upon this with the eyes of a “bleeding heart”, but rather as someone with the practical sense to see the difference between the illegal who either jumps a wall and lives off the rest of us; overstays a visa and is too lazy to apply for citizenship, thereby living off the rest of us; and someone who, as I said, tries to jump through all the hoops that immigration officials demand, and still is marked for deportation.

It’s only too bad that ICE seems to run like DYFS! Punish the just and let the lawbreakers off the hook!
