Yes, ballot questions are written in a way that is very hard to determine the meaning. Yes, they typically pass so proponents try to draw as little attention as possible to the hidden costs. And yes, if you want to help NJ get back on a pathway to financial accountability, strength and opportunity, then please Vote NO on both.

The first question is about spending anther $125 million on library construction grants. First of all, out of everything our state needs to spend money on, recovery beds for addicts, road and bridge repair, teach salaries and everything in between, they're throwing libraries at us? Ridiculous. What's worse (and I'm pro-public library mind you) is that this question leaves out any criteria for deciding on how the money will be granted and spent. We certainly do not need another money bag for the politically connected elite to continue lining their own pockets.

So this is an easy one. If you want to see libraries constructed the decisions should be made locally and local taxpayers should bear the burden. Beyond that, how about a criteria list before you ask state taxpayers to throw more money at problem that may not even exist?

The second question is worse, believe it or not. The question asks voters to change the New Jersey constitution to allow for a "lock box" for money brought in from environmental settlements. The money would then be allocated to "...repair, restore, replace or preserve the state's natural resources." Of course there's no further explanation of how the money would be used. The only specifics allocation of money provided to the voter is about legal fees..."The moneys may also be used to legal or other costs..."

There ya go. It's corruption in writing. IF the voters pass this amendment, then the money that is headed our way from the Exxon Mobil settlement of $225 million will quickly be spent on politically connected lawyers. Remember what happened in Atlantic City with elite insider Jeff Chiesa benefiting personally form the state takeover. He then went on to play a role in the state house renovation bonds.

It's disgusting to see connected elite insiders making money hand over fist while most of new Jersey struggles to survive. I'm sick of it. Perhaps you are as well. Easy fix. Vote no.
