A New Jersey man will spend 48 hours in jail after pleading no contest to hazing at a West Virginia University fraternity.

Michael Sousa also must pay a $1,000 fine and serve two years of probation.

Media outlets report that the 21-year-old from Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, was sentenced Thursday in Monongalia County Magistrate Court.

Sousa had pleaded contest on Tuesday.

Susa was president of Phi Kappa Psi's WVU chapter when the incident occurred on Nov. 15, 2013. Police say a 19-year-old man was physically assaulted and injured while participating in an initiation.

Co-defendants Andrew Nemes of Huntington Beach, California, and Christopher Lazzell of Morgantown are scheduled to appear in magistrate court on June 23.
