Say it ain’t Joe! Crab Shack has shut down 2 NJ restaurants
Fans will need to go elsewhere for their seafood cravings, as there's been a couple of Joe's Crab Shack spots closed down in New Jersey. Amid the parent company's bankruptcy process, the restaurant at the Monmouth Mall complex was shuttered earlier this month. That follows the closing of an Ocean County Joe's Crab Shack in Brick this past fall.
Ignite Restaurant Inc., which also owns the Brick House Tavern + Tap chain, filed its Chapter 11 plan back in June. Restaurant giant Landry’s then won the company's bankruptcy auction, with a $55 million bid. A judge must approve the sale for it to move forward. A bankruptcy court hearing is scheduled on Thursday in Houston.
As listed online, the four remaining NJ crab shack locations are in Clifton, Deptford, Lawrenceville and South Plainfield. Brick House has locations in Neptune, Princeton, and South Plainfield.
