Thirty-five-year-old Michael Amante of Jersey City was found not guilty Tuesday of sexual assault and child endangerment charges.

Prosecutors had charged Amante after the boy's mother told authorities she saw Amante inappropriately touching her son in the bathroom of the facility in Franklin Township.

The Star-Ledger reports that prosecutors said in closing arguments that Amante had touched and kissed the boy.

Amante's court-appointed defense attorney, Lauren Bayer, said Amante had told police he was helping the boy to get out of the bathroom and may have inadvertently touched him while helping him with his pants.
