LACEY — Several family members and a dog are all dead — the father of the family from self-inflicted injuries — police said.

But in an announcement from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, authorities stopped short of saying the father of the family, a 51-year-old man, killed the others. The prosecutor's office described the man's 48-year-old wife, their 7-year-old son and a Welsh corgi as "victims" in the incident at 212 Nautilus Blvd., but did not say who did the slaying.

It also said the father died at Jersey Shore University Medical Center of self-inflicted injuries while the other two people and dog were pronounced dead at the home.

Coronato said there is no threat to the community from the incident.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. Wednesday, the prosecutor's office said.

Vehicles from the Ocean County Sheriff's Department blocked off the intersection of Nautilus Boulevard and Juniper Lane on Wednesday night. It's a residential area located just east of Route 9 near the Stafford Township line.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit, Lacey Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office continues to determine the cause of death.

Property records show the property is owned by Gregg Scott.
