Man Found Dead After Netcong Blaze

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that claimed the life of one person in Netcong.

A police officer noticed the blaze at the residence at 10 Main Street while on routine patrol late Thursday evening.

The victim, a male resident whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene early Friday morning.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office says the fire consumed the top two floors of the three-story building and eventually burned through the roof. The structure was vacant except for a second-floor bedroom, which was occupied by the victim.
