SUMMIT — Law enforcement, first responders, and everyday citizens gathered for a good cause Saturday morning, the "Making a Difference" 5K in memory of Detective Matthew Tarentino.

The 29-year-old police officer was killed in May, while driving to work, when his car was hit by a wayward, wrong-way driver on Route 78.

Proceeds from the 5K's registration fees are being given to the Tarentino family.

Nearly 750 registered runners completed the race, and countless other parents and children participated in a one-mile walk and "fun run."
