Judi Franco found a local NFL protest she hopes catches fire
I always want to say to the NFL players who kneel during the national anthem that the best way of protesting a country that you have such differences with is to leave that country—especially one free enough to make it easy to do so.
But since we don’t see any of these little NFL punks leaving in droves, people have had to take matters into their own hands and protest the protesters.
American Legion Post Number Five in Rahway joined posts around the country in banning NFL games at their posts. To show their outrage at players not standing for the National Anthem. But now their message really heats up and let's hope THIS protest catches fire!! (Saw what I did there? Two puns in one sentence.. pretty proud of myself.)
Yup.. it’s a big old NFL bonfire!! A burnin’ Jersey Party. My hat goes off to these guys for deciding to protest the protests in their own way. Not only have they banned any NFL watching from their lodge but they’ve decided to throw bunch of jerseys in the fire and burn them.
This is no small sacrifice for these guys as many of them are huge football fans. But they love of country and American values Is more important to them and so they’ve made their choice.
Now obviously this is not going to affect the NFL players in any way. In fact, they may never even hear about it. And they’ll go on making their zillions of dollars to play a game and continue disrespecting the flag with their silly “protest.” But if it just makes these guys feel good, it makes me feel good to know that somewhere in some little corner of the world-and even right here in New Jersey-some people still understand what it really means to be an American!
