First female police appointed in Atlantic County
GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP (AP) — Galloway Township is the first town in Atlantic County to appoint a woman as police chief.
Chief Donna Higbee is a 13-year veteran of the police department.
She succeeds chief Pat Moran, who retired last month.
The 39-year-old tells The Press of Atlantic City her family helped settle a section of the township known as Higbeetown. Her father also retired from the police force in 1999 after 27 years.
