Fatal crash in Woodland sparks forest fire

WOODLAND TOWNSHIP -- Authorities say one person is dead following a fiery one-car crash in southern New Jersey.

It happened around noon Monday in the Pinelands in Woodland Township. State troopers say the car crashed into a tree and burst into flames. The fire extended into the woods and officials say it was extinguished by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

Authorities didn't immediately identify the victim.
The crash remains under investigation.
