Crane crushes water main, impacts water service, pressure
CLIFFSIDE PARK (AP) — Officials have issued a boil water advisory for three North Jersey towns after a construction crane crushed an underground water main.
Bergen County authorities say the accident in Cliffside Park occurred Wednesday morning. They say the crane's boom was lowered to the ground for repairs to a sensor, and when crews began to raise the boom again they noticed water coming out of the street.
The accident left dozens of customers in Cliffside Park without water, while residents in several nearby towns were experiencing low water pressure.
A boil water advisory issued by United Water was in effect for Cliffside Park, Englewood Cliffs and Fort Lee.
