After a crew member aboard the Mary Elizabeth alerted authorities that the 49-year-old man needed immediate medical attention on Monday morning, the Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter to the boat about 50 miles off Lewes, Del.

Helicopter pilot Lt. Cmdr. Ian Stal says the crew's work clearing the deck helped the Coast Guard deploy a rescue swimmer, who assessed the man's medical condition. The Coast Guard says the man was hoisted aboard the helicopter and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
