BERLIN — Authorities say a man who barricaded himself and a child inside a Camden County home will likely face charges.

The standoff started shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday when Berlin police responded to a Glacier Drive home for a reported domestic disturbance. The officers were told the man had made threats to harm himself and he refused to leave home or allow the child to leave.

The standoff continued for about three hours as police negotiators spoke with the man, whose name wasn't released. Some nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution, while other residents were told to stay in their residences.

The man and the child eventually walked out of the home around 1 p.m. without incident, and the man was taken to a crisis center for an evaluation.
