A Look Inside One Of New Jersey's Most Haunted Buildings

It's considered one of the most haunted places in New Jersey, and it's easy to see why when you walk through the old cell blocks of the Burlington County Prison Museum in Mount Holly.

The historic prison was completed in 1811 and stayed in operation until mid-1960. At the time of its closing in 1965, it was the oldest continuously operating prison in America.

Today, it's open to the public, so you can walk through it at your own pace or take a tour and learn all about its fascinating history, architecture, criminal law, and paranormal activity.

I'm always looking for unique adventures and historic sites to explore, and when I had a free day, I decided to take a little drive to check it out.

While I was there, I chatted with one of the people who works at the museum, and he told me about the reported ghost sightings. He's said he's heard unexplained noises and has even seen shadowy figures throughout the prison.

Luckily, I went during the day, which was definitely a good thing, because if I'd gone at night, I think I would have been way too scared to walk through it!

Burlington County Prison Museum is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and on Sunday, from noon to 4 pm.
