Authorities: Elderly man killed in Jersey Shore house fire
KEANSBURG, N.J. (AP) -- Investigators say an elderly man has died in a fire at his Jersey Shore home, but witnesses say his wife was able to safely escape the flames.
It's not yet known what sparked the fire at the single-story home in Keansburg, which was reported around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. It's under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office.
The name of the 77-year-old man killed in the blaze has not been released.
The Asbury Park Press reports that he was found dead inside the home, but further details have not been disclosed.
