Asbury Park Blaze Displaces Three, Injures Several Firefighters
A three alarm fire erupts at an abandoned structure on Cookman Ave. spreading to a nearby home Sunday.
The Asbury Park Press reports the blaze started shortly before 5 a.m. in an abandoned rear structure at 919 Cookman Ave. Officials say because of last night's high winds the fire spread to a home nearby, displacing its three residents. The residents were not injured.
Firefighters from Neptune, Wayside, and Wanamassa fire companies, were called to help battle the blaze, which took several hours to extinguish. A number of firefighters were injured, but there were no reports on the severity of those injuries.
The cause is under investigation.
