Where does the idea come from that if a police officer is exceeding the speed limit and crashes, he deserves to die?

This morning I discussed the statements of Leslie Anderson, a Middlesex County Superior Court judge's law clerk, who said the death of a NJ State Trooper who crashed after hitting a deer was "not that sad, and certainly not 'tragic.'"

Many callers shared my disgust for this viewpoint, but a few said they didn't find the situation sad because "cops speed," and "he was probably speeding."

This is just one account where our nation's police force has received negative press lately, which causes me to ask whether the bashing is part of an orchestrated attempt to undermine our country.
