Animal activists say they won't be able to file a court challenge in time to stop New Jersey's bear hunt on Monday.

A state appeals court ruled Thursday that the hunt could go on as scheduled. The court turned away claims that the state's bear management policy was flawed.

On Friday, a lawyer for the activists, Doris Lin, said the groups will file an appeal to the state Supreme Court next week. Lin says although the appeal won't be able to stop this year's six-day hunt, the groups hope to have an impact on next year's hunt.

Lin says activists will stage protests every day of this year's hunt.
