21-year-old aspiring rapper shot dead in Clifton

A 21-year-old aspiring rapper was shot dead outside the liquor store where he worked early Friday morning, according to a report by NorthJersey.com.

Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken told New Jersey 101.5 police weren't yet ready to disclose the victim's identity, but NorthJersey.com cited family members and friends identifying him as Leandro Mendoza, known as Leo.

According to the report, citing family members and police, Mendoza was shot at around 2 a.m. as he closed the store for the night. The report said he and another employee were attacked by a gunman with a covered face. The other employee was not seriously injured, according to the report.

It wasn't yet clear if Mendoza and the other employee were targeted individually, the report said.
