Two inmates escape from youth detention center
HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP - (AP) — Authorities are searching for two inmates who escaped from a youth detention center in South Jersey.
ABC 7 reports that 18-year-old Hakim Walls and 20-year-old Jermaine Jackson, both of Bridgeton, are considered dangerous.
Officials say the two men and a juvenile inmate fled on foot from the Cumberland County Detention Center in Hopewell Township after they overpowered a guard Saturday night. But the juvenile was captured a short time later.
Walls and Jackson were both being held on weapons charges. Though both are adults, they were being held at a youth detention center because they were minors when they were originally sentenced.
