Two teens are dead after they truck drove down an embankment into the Delaware River.

Luke Bebe, 18, told police he swerved and drove his truck off   River Road in Pohatcong  to avoid hitting another vehicle around 2:30 a.m. not far from the Riegelsville Bridge.

The truck became completely submerged despite rescue efforts in near darkness. Bebe was able to climb out of the truck but 19-year-old Johnathon Gercie and a 14-year-old, both from Alpha, were not.

Bebe was taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Warren in Phillipsburg for a  fractured vertebrae and other injuries.

WFMZ TV reports there is no indication of speeding or alcohol being a factor in the crash.

The three were returning from night fishing according to WNBC TV.

The truck was pulled from the water on Wednesday morning shortly after dawn according to the Express-Times.
