A Boonton police cruiser narrowly avoided a falling tree as powerful winds hammered the Garden State Sunday.

According to the Boonton Police Department, Sgt. Andrew Tintle was responding to a call around 8 a.m. Sunday, as strong wind gusts caused problems throughout the region, ranging from downed power lines to toppled trees.

A dashcam video shows Tintle traveling along Rockaway Valley Road, when a powerful wind gust causes a large tree to snap, falling on both the eastbound and westbound lanes, right in the path of the police cruiser.

The police car stops just short of the fallen tree, avoiding disaster. A Chevy pickup truck heading westbound on the same roadway was not as lucky. The video shows the truck running into the tree, then becoming airborne for a moment before coming back down on top of the tree.

Despite the collision, authorities say no one was hurt.

"Neither Sergeant Tintle nor the driver of the pickup truck suffered any injuries," Boonton police said in a statement.
