Want to get rich? Get a job in government! — Jim Gearhart podcast
Look — it's easy to fall in debt. College education alone can leave you paying back loans for ages.
Jim Gearhart has the solution — just get a job in government. Those who know how to work the system have no trouble getting rich off of your tax dollars.
"As soon as the kid comes out of high school, get him a job with the government," Jim advises slyly on the latest edition of the Jim Gearhart Show podcast, available every Thursday on iTunes, Google Play and the New Jersey 101.5 app.
"From then on, you've arrived as a state of occupational beatitude."
Take the example of the state legislator who parlayed a $35,000 part-time job into $472,1000 in salaries, working for every local government under the sun at once. Or the Essex County executive who, with Gov. Chris Christie in his corner, managed to get a pension and keep working at once.
It didn't matter that Christie "was damning with bell, book and candle" others for doing the same, Jim says. When politicians work the system, we all pay.
