Highway surprises when drivers face flying objects and near misses
The unpredictability of highway driving often leads to moments of sheer surprise, and for many drivers, experiences of unexpected objects flying into their path can create heart-pounding memories. Callers have shared various incidents, illustrating the potential dangers posed by unsecured items on vehicles. From mattresses to ladders and even surfboards, the stories recount near-collisions and bizarre encounters on the road.
Unexpected Encounters
One memorable anecdote came from a caller who was traveling with their family when suddenly, a large ladder detached from a truck, terrifying them all as it nearly crossed their path. Fortunately, they managed to avoid an accident, a close call that left them shaken but safe. Others have recounted instances where surfboards almost flew off their cars while commuting to the beach — a reminder of the importance of securing transportation items properly.
The Highway Horror Stories
Many drivers can relate to the tension of sharing the road with vehicles that might not be carrying their loads securely. The common thread in these stories is the split-second decisions that must be made when an item unexpectedly veers into the vehicle's trajectory. Whether it’s a tire bouncing into the air or a piece of furniture tumbling off a truck, such events remind drivers of the frailty of safety on the highways.
There's something truly jarring about the realization that, while driving on a busy highway, an object can emerge seemingly out of nowhere, posing a threat to life and vehicle. For instance, one caller described the startling sight of a large piece of cardboard striking their windshield, blinding them momentarily and causing a surge of adrenaline as they instinctively reacted.
The unpredictable nature of highway driving means that these tales are not just entertaining; they serve as cautionary reminders to all drivers about the significance of securing loads properly and being vigilant on the road. Each story is a testament to the fact that while highways are a critical part of modern life, they also come with inherent risks that can catch anyone off-guard.
Final Thoughts
As drivers navigate various terrains and situations, these stories highlight the need to remain alert and cautious. After all, along with the thrill of the open road comes the responsibility to ensure a safe journey for oneself and others.
For anyone who has experienced such a moment, whether humorous or horrifying, sharing the stories not only connects drivers but also spreads awareness of the importance of road safety. Keep those stories coming — they remind us that every trip on the highway could lead to unexpected encounters!

Oh, and sports book app chime time. It is 209. [Music] Who would have thought hell would really exist and that it would be in New Jersey? Screaming at people at gas stations is a New Jersey tradition. From Caucus, New Jersey. It's everybody's favorite game show. Oh, there's nothing like action. The North calls this a sub, while the South calls it a Hogy. The North calls this Taylor Ham, and the South calls it pork roll. Hey, you talking about Jersey? Me and my friends are from Jersey. Oh crap, there's more of them. Hey, come on. There's people from Jersey all over. Who here is from Jersey? You know there's enough party out [Music] for you. Walking home every day over by a good bridge. Cuz down the shore everything's all right. The sun shines brightly on a Jersey afternoon. their weekends on the Jersey Shore. What do you hear? What do you say? Live from New Jersey. It's Dominsky and more on New Jersey 101.5. You okay? I was just joining in the cheers. Hey, good afternoon. It's all right. So, we're both going through something. It's a Jeff and Kyle. What? What do you mean? I'm fine. What are you going through? Uh, introduce yourself first and then I'll explain. Um, I'm that Dinsky fell. Jeff Deinsky. That's Kylie Moore. I'm Kylie Moore. Yeah. What's up? Um, how did I don't know how to describe this. So, I went to 7-Eleven for lunch and I got one of those spicy beef sticks. Okay. So, I took a bite before I had to intro Brendan's traffic, right? And you know before the mics go on, we always we give a little I have no idea what's coming either folks. So So you had a spicy beef stick. You had to introduce Brendan. So I gave a Right. And that launched whatever the spice is not only into the back of my left nostril. What? But the back of my left eye. All right. So in other words, like right near the corner of it. So you the corner near the nose. Oh my god. So I feel spiced in my eye and nose right now. So you had a little spice chunk in other words lodged in your throat. I guess I didn't know that at the time. I found out afterwards. Right. Like you hadn't just eaten it. It was earlier that you ate it. Well, no. I I ate it like I don't know 30 seconds ago. I was like I can chew this easily. It's just one bite. Like 30 seconds before having introduced him. Okay. So it was still in your throat somewhere. You didn't think it was, but it was. So then you So then you clear your throat and now a spice chunk lodges into your sinuses and I've never felt I'm sorry in the back of my eye. Yeah, I guess it's really way up there. I mean, I've touched jalapenos or hot sauce and then accidentally rubbed my eyes and I felt it at the front. The back is a new sensation. So if I make a weird face at any point in the next like, you know, I don't know, 10 minutes, I don't know how long this lasts. That's what's going on. Yeah. Welcome to my world. Everybody's always thinking I'm making weird faces and I'm not trying to. But um I I'll tell you what would help and you don't want to hear it. If anybody in the building had a nutty pot. I'm not sharing a nutty pot with someone. Well, you could disinfect it first, but I think I have some uh there's a certain kind of distilled. I have some distilled water still back there. I think too bad it's in a room that's locked. But Oh, that's right. Yeah, we couldn't get into the office today either. Yeah, this has been a weird day. weird start to the week. Everything is just off today. But we're not complaining. I pray that everyone else's day is going normally. But seriously, if you flushed out your sinuses, um then then that would probably just like, you know, come right out like the license plate out of the shark's belly and jaws, you know. But all right. So I think I'm just going to power through it. All right. I'm sorry for you. If you hear any like sniffling, it's because I can feel spice in my in my face. I was going to ask how your weekend was first, but I guess I shouldn't bother at this moment. It was fine. Was it? Yeah. Better than my eye currently. Okay. Did you see Did you see the video? And we're not going to talk about this with calls and at length. I just want to mention this cuz I wonder how many people saw the video of one of the many no kings protests that got ugly where there was this dude who was a anti- no kings guy meaning he was pro Trump right and I this had to be New York City because of the attitudes involved and the look of the street I think this was New York City and this guy starts mouththing off at the protesters now to be fair I only saw what they posted. Maybe there was something before, but it didn't seem to be. But this guy is mouththing off as if they just had no right to protest, you know? I mean, they've got a right to protest. If you disagree with him, you disagree with him. But he's like telling him like to shut up and and he's screaming, "God bless Trump." And I guess that's his right, too. I mean, he wasn't part of an organized protest. I don't think he had a permit, but I mean, you know, it's New York City. People yell stuff in the streets all the time, you know. Uh so then then he started saying blanku, giving the middle fingers, except he's saying the actual f word. He's screaming f you, the full word with the middle fingers at these protesters and then he uses the other f word rhymes with rag. Oh yeah. It's like come on, bro. Like really, you had to. All of it is unwarranted. that is particularly unwarranted, right? It's like, you know, and so and then and then somebody was in front of him and I don't know what they said or mouthed, but he got pissed and he starts running after this kid. So, he was heading one way, but now he about faces and he starts running in the street trying to catch one of these protesters like he's looking like he's going to beat the crap out of him, right? And he's an older guy, probably like 60s or something. And because he's running so fast, he loses it. And he just face plants right across the street. And now everybody's laughing at him who are on the protest side. And I'm like, okay, also don't need to do that. It's like, yeah, you were getting the FU, but it's New York City. Everybody's getting an FU. You know, uh, probably FU each other. I mean, come on. It's New York. Yeah, but if you're gonna be homophobic, I'm not going to be opposed to you falling on your face. But to be laugh Yeah. I mean, like I might not help him up and I'm not going to laugh at the guy, but but they did. And so he stands up, he's dripping blood, and then he goes running off after somebody else, and he's trying to catch somebody. I don't even know who, but he's like he's got he's got murder in his eyes, and he's just like trying so fast. And people are like yelling at him. And next thing I know, I couldn't tell if he was pushed or if he just fell again. I think he fell again. Not 100% sure cuz it was sort of somebody between the camera and him. And then he goes face planning again a second time and he's just drenched with blood now. And oh my god it's like see I don't want drench with blood but could have happened to a nicer guy. Yeah. But like yeah so much for a peaceful protest you know. Jeez. It's like crazy. There are people here. I won't say who because maybe they wouldn't want to but they posted on social media so they probably wouldn't care. But yeah there were people here who went to some of those uh no kings protests. Really? Oh I did not see that. Yep. I did not I have never been to any kind of protest in my life. Handed out American flags in a parking lot once after 9/11, but that's not a protest. No, that was just, you know, trying to bring people together. That's all that was. But no, never never was a protest guy. All right, so coming up, we have a story from uh from Sinus Girl over there. Oh, yeah. Update. The inside of my skull no longer feels like it's on fire. Oh, okay. So, it's passing so far. I still feel a little stuff, but it's not actively heat. Maybe this will actually help you. Maybe like you won't be congested again for 3 months, you know, your lips are God's ears, right? You never know. No, but Kylie has Kylie has a story about somebody that she knows. And it was something that I think is much more ordinary uh than than most people think. Something that people do with their cars all the time. And sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. But she'll have that story coming up. Right now it's 218. Here's Fastrack. It's a paid political announcement. I'm New Jersey 101.5. All right. So listen to this and tell us if you ever had anything even slightly similar. 1800283101.5. So I was talking to a friend yesterday and he lives in Florida. So he has to, god forbid, get out to pump his own gas. And this happened somewhat recently. He didn't uh give specifics, but he got out, started pumping, he had his phone in his hand, and he thought, "Yeah, I just have to push some buttons. I'll put it on the uh I on the roof of the car." Mhm. I'll get back to it in a second. He thought Mhm. pumped his gas, paid, whatever. Got back in the car, went on his merry way. Yep. Guess what was still on the car, Jeff? the phone said iPhone. So, he's driving along and he I don't even know how he got to a highway speed, but he did with it still on there and then he started possible. Then he started hearing like the on his roof like the hell's going on. Yeah. What the heck is that? And that's when he saw the phone fly back in his rearview mirror. Oh. [Music] Oh. Did he go back? No. Why not? You never know. He He figured. Wait a minute. Jeff, I Oh, you've got to go back. These things are like $1,000 anymore. I know. You got to go back. I would have Well, I guess depending on the road. I think I would have pulled over, but I think I would have done it just knowing that it was doomsday. Still, I would have to know. You never know. So, he just Is this guy Is he like really wealthy? He's He's doing fine. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. I also don't know how old the phone was. Uh, so maybe it was like a Well, this was coming anyway. Like like like the way mine is on its last legs and I'm about to get rid of it anyway. Yeah, but still I don't know, man. You got all your contacts in there usually and I mean if everything's backed up, okay. But anyway, but that's what here's the other thing. What? He was going to pick up his um his daughter-in-law where at the airport. Oh, so you need a phone to communicate that. So had no way of contacting. Well, so what well how all the more reason you park on the shoulder and walked, you know, 200 yards back. Then what we're getting at before I finish the story is who has left something on their car and did it survive 1800 283101.5 because sometimes it will ride. Sometimes it will take the ride and it will still be there when you get there. Other times it's going to fall off. This one did. Uh, I don't think it would have survived. An iPhone. If I sneeze it in this direction, it cracks. Here's why I think it maybe could have. Something made it hang on until he got to highway speed, right? And maybe that something was a slightly rubbery otter case. Oh, okay. You know what I'm saying? Maybe I don't know obviously your friend, but I mean, if it was an otter case, you never know. Oh, it it would often depend just like which way it tumbles and what corner, flat, at an angle, whatever. And you never know. I mean, maybe the screen would have been cracked, but maybe at least he could have used it enough at the airport to communicate to his pickup. But yeah, I can't believe he didn't even go back to track. I was looking at his new phone yesterday. That did not look like an Otterbox. I don't think he uh has secure cases. I thought you said you were talking to him on the phone. No. Oh, he's up visiting. I just said I was talking to him in his phone. Oh. Oh. Oh, that's Oh, that was confusing. I'm sorry. I was going to say, how'd you see that? Um Oh, so you don't think it was? No. I don't know, man. I don't know. It would just haunt me if I didn't go back and check, but that's not really the point. But who's who's been there? I feel like at some point in our lives, I feel like everybody's done that. But maybe if you don't remember doing it, I bet you it's only because it was so anticlimactic that you caught it right before you even got out of the driveway and you parked and grabbed it and so you just don't even remember doing it, you know. But when you have lost something off of your car after you left it on the car, that's when you really remember. And it doesn't have to be something as expensive as a phone. It It's just as funny a story. Oh, I was thinking cup of coffee. Oh, cup of coffee happens all the time. You back up and then suddenly your windshield is covered with your latte. Yes. Oh, a cup of coffee absolutely happens all the time. And yeah, that's fair game. Anything. And nowadays it's like, well, there's $5 down the drain. Yeah. Yeah. I don't care if down my windshield as it were. I don't care if it's an 89 cent bottle of water. You just feel like a doofus when it happens to you. But uh I've even heard of people Oh, and if you have a story like this, stuff that you left on your car and then you started driving. um what ended up happening 1800283 101.5 but I've even heard of people leaving something on the bumper now a lot of cars are designed where you know like well is there really delineated bumper anymore but I've certainly heard about it you know 20 years ago where they'll even rest like a cell phone or even a wallet say at a gas station on the bumper and same thing they'll drive off but sometimes you get like one of these miracles like the sky should open up and beams of sun should come down because you realize you did it and you're like, "Oh my god." And you get out and it's still there. It made it a 20 mile trek and you don't know how it's still there. So Leah, what happened when you've done that? Deborah in South Jersey here on New Jersey 101.5. Hi, good afternoon everybody. How are you today? We're good. Great topic. As soon I'm like on the highway, I said, "Oh my goodness, I got a call in." Um, so it wasn't a cell phone. It was actually my favorite water bottle. So, you know, we're carrying water bottles all over the place or whatnot and I guess just things got really really busy. Um, it was in the afternoon and I ended up putting it on the top of my car thinking I was going to remember to take it off. Sure. Famous last words, right? We always think this. And as soon as I drove off, I'm like all I heard was bang and just crash. And I was like to the side like where did you see it come off or hear it? It came all the way in like behind me. I saw it in the um in the rearview mirror like fall off the car. Yeah. And I was in tears. I said, "Oh my goodness, this cannot be happening." So yeah. Was it the kind of thing? My favorite water bottle. I was gonna say, "Was it the kind of thing that would break easily? Did it break or did you go back for it?" So, I did go back for it and when I stopped the car, I actually opened the door and saw the whole thing cracked in half. But I did pick it up cuz I didn't want anybody to like drive over it cuz it was I don't know the type of um the type of um you know, I don't know what they're made out of, but if anybody like rode over it, I'm sure something would have happened to their doohickey. the type of doohickey that could possibly cause doohickey harm, right? Isn't it so funny how attached to water bottles we get? Yeah. What is with that? Why? Yeah. How? You know what? I don't understand it, but I admire it. I just It's It's It's just yet another thing I'm too abnormal to enjoy in life. But but but you folks that get so attached to a certain water bottle, I kind of I I'm kind of jealous. I can't feel that way about object. I I know this is slightly different, but a few months ago, my sister left her water bottle on the train that she was on, and it was the talk of the weekend. Oh, she told me about this. This is true. Oh, her sister Kendall would not shut up about it. She was showing me the text messages in her in in her family group chat. It was like one of the saddest things you've seen. So, well, no, it just means that we appreciate the finer things in life. Deborah, thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. A water bottle. It's a Would he love it? You love it. All right. So, we want to know what is uh what is something that you once left on your car on the roof uh on the bumper somewhere. And did it survive the drive? 18002831 point. It's a difference in home comfort with Edison. He That's funny. I'm always tempted to sing Rock the Night by Europe. Oh, no. Rock now, Rock away. No. Got to go Ramon's. Mhm. All right. So, we're talking about things left on top of a car, on some part of the car, you forget. Perhaps you drove away. Perhaps you felt like a big doof. 1800283 101.5. Jerry in Farmingdale, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, how you doing, everybody? Hey there. You're good, Jerry. Hope you're well. I'm I'm fairly well. Yeah, I'm fairly well. But, uh, lost the phone twice and lost a personal bag, a craftsman bag with all my items in it, wallet, credit cards, everything like that. Do you mean that you like three separate incidents? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The airhead or got distracted. Who the hell knows? It's a Dude, it's okay. People do it. I mean, the busier you are, the more of a life you have, that's when this happens. You know, you're you're juggling too many things. You're trying to your mind is on the next appointment you're making, whatever. Now, each time this happened, did you get to your destination and then realize, "Oh, no." Oh, or did you actually watch the items fly off your car? Well, the the first time I didn't know until I got back home and I'm like, "Where's my phone? How come my my car pick up my phone?" What the hell's going on? And and and then you remembered that you had sat up there. Well, I remember which way I went. So, I took a ride up the roadway and uh nothing. And about a day and a half later, I got a phone call and and a woman said, "Hey, I have your crush phone." It was by my mailbox. So, the phone was no good, but it would light up and it would show my number. It didn't have any secret passcode or anything on it. Right. She was nice enough to let you know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. $1,000 later, I got another phone. And then uh I don't know maybe a year ago I'm pulling out from a job site and not thinking got distracted put the phone on the car drove away halfway half a mile away so oh no man where's my phone drive back and there it is in the middle of the road crushed crushed there's another $1,000 two for two and then not too long ago uh taking some debris I put a little trailer on the back of my truck and I put my bag between a trailer and a truck while I was connecting everything together. Didn't think about it. No. Go down the road and next thing I know, my neighbor said, "Hey, there's a police officer at the house looking for you, looking for me. Why? What? What's going on?" He said, "I don't know. They said they found your bag on a circle of 34 and 33." I said, "What?" Then I started looking around. I said, "My bag's not here." Oh, man. What do I do? What do I Yeah. But uh but I did call Well Township up and I I thanked the officer. Hey, thanks a lot. You know, and he said they were monitoring the circle. You saw it come off. She went to get it. I was long gone. You were lucky. Uh yeah, Jerry, you're lucky with that one. You're you're on a list by now. You know that cops are watching you at this point. If he hadn't been, he is now. Yeah. Really, Jerry? Thank you for calling Jersey 10 a 1.5. Cynthia in Newark has a story. Hey, Cynthia. Hi. Hi, guys. Hey. Well, this didn't happen to me. This happened years ago to a friend I went to high school with. Okay. She became a new mother. She was a new mother. Mhm. I guess she went shopping or she was taking her child, whatever. So, she goes to get back in the car. She puts her belongings in the car, whatever the product she bought. And then she put the baby on top of the roof of the car. No. Like in one of those little like when they're really little like in the little infant carrier with the handle, right? Yes. Yes. With the handle. Yeah. Put it on top of the car. Got in the car about to pull off. Oh. People jumped out and they stopped her. Oh, thank God. when she realized what she did, she broke down. A but the Brady boy is 30 years old now. But I'm just saying that's what happened. She was never the same after that. She's not the only one who has done that though. And you know what, Cynthia? I even heard I mean obviously you can't do that. But I even heard of a case exactly like that, but there was nobody who watched the woman back out. She didn't realize it. She pulls away and it did fly off the roof that the but the infant was so well strapped in and it was such a good carrier and it landed the right ways. Baby wasn't even hurt. She needs to do endorsements for that brand. Seriously. But yeah, whether it was Graco or whatever the heck it was, man. Baby was not even hurt. But yeah, I could see how bad she would feel about that. Oh yeah. Oh man, I'm just glad that both babies are safe. Yeah. Oh, that's a hell of a story. Yeah, Cynthia, what a story. Thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101 a 1.5. If I was that kid, well, not kid now. He's 30 years old. Oh, you never tell him. No, you never tell that story. Abs. Oh, no. I was going to say you tell me that story and I will never let you live that day. Exactly. That's what Exactly. That's why I'm saying if I'm that mom, I'm never telling that story. Oh, I was out a little too late last night, Mom. Thank God I'm here. Yeah. Really? Oh, I forgot to take the trash out. Huh? You forgot to get me off the car. Yeah, exactly. Every day. Mike in Spring Lake, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, how you doing? Hey, Mike. Hi, Mike. So, I was 19 years old doing deliveries for a fish company for bait. I drove to Maryland. The guy gave me $1,500 in cash. I wrote him a receipt. I put it in the money bag the guy gave me and took off and went down the road. I got about four or five miles down the road. I didn't have the money bag. Oh my god. I thought I'm 19 years old. Oh my, he's never going to believe me. I turned around. I drove all the way back to the place. I'm looking everywhere. Money bag's gone. I'm like, "These guys, I think I stole this money." Oh. Oh my god. And how much was in there? Like I think it was like 1,500 bucks I delivered to a place in Maryland. So I go inside to the delivery place. They don't see it. They don't have it. I walk back outside. It's stuck to the front grill of my truck. Wow. I have to put it on the bumper and drove away and it blew up and got stuck to the grill of the truck. Thank god it lodged there, right? Oh, I I was I remember being like, I'm going to lose my job. He's going to put me in jail. Think I'm a thief. Someone was watching over you that day. That is so wild. Yeah. Even though it's like a legitimate business, I would feel like I was suddenly in the Sopranos. Like somebody's going to be cuffing me around. I want my money. Right. Yes. I never even told him. I didn't have I didn't have the the guts when I got back to even tell him what had happened. I just turned in the envelope. I think I quit like 3 weeks later. Oh, yeah. Tell him again. Why tell him? Why tell that baby that he was on the roof? Why tell that boss that he almost lost his wife? Oh, I told the baby before the boss. Mike, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. All right, so this happened to a friend of Kylie's with a cell phone at a self-sorted gas station in Florida. Have you ever sat something on your car somewhere on the exterior of the car thinking you were going to remember it, thinking it was only for a quick moment, and then you drove off? Tell us the story. 1800 283 101.5 play at Resorts World New Jersey 101.5. Um, by the way, coming up, Kylie, I know this is one of your favorite things. And I saw I saw Well, the reason we're going to talk about this is uh Buddy Velastro, who had suffered that horrific cringery with his bowling alley in his home. where that where that steel rod went right through his hand and then back out and then back in again. Well, he's finally had his fifth and final surgery. It's been like five long years and he's finally done with his surgeries and uh so this is this is a good thing. The story is horrifying. This is a good thing. It's a good thing. Um, also, um, I've got my own, uh, kind of roadway horror, but much scarier than just losing something off the top of your car. I'll tell you what happened to me today, which left me completely blind on Route One. Oh, goodness. For a Yeah. 60 m an hour. Uh, but anyway, uh, right now we'll take more of your calls. We're talking about stuff that you left on a car and you drove off. Don in Hamilton, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi, good good afternoon. Um, so this is actually my cousin, but I witnessed it. Um, so he found this cat that just like kept coming up to his, you know, house and everything and he's like, I think I want to keep it and I'm like, she looks a little fat and well, yeah, she was pregnant. So, she had six kittens and he was taking the mom and the kittens to the vet to get looked at. They're all in this cat carrier. Puts on the top of his car. I'm going to the post office and I see him. I said, "Oh, I'll talk to you." And he starts back. I say, "Oh." And I start yelling at him and he's like, you know, not even listen. I call him. I'm like, "Your cat is with the kittens. They're on the car." And he stops. Like, luckily nothing happened. But wait, wait, wait. They're on the top of the car. They're on the top of the car in the carrier. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, he gets the cat home and my, you know, we tell like that's the story at dinner. And every time the cat, he ended up keeping the cat. She's no longer alive because this is, you know, close to probably 30 years. Every time the cat would come in the room, she would look at my cousin with this look of judgmental and I said, "She's judging you. I know what you did." The day she died, she judged. And I said, "That's cuz she knows you left her and her babies on top of the roof and was going to pull away." Yeah, that cat's not for you mean it. Oh, it was Yeah. I mean, she was a good cat, but every time she saw my cousin, if he wasn't giving her treats or food, the I she could have rolled her eyes, she probably would have. I don't blame her for a second. Yeah, that evil cat eye. There's nothing like it. Oh, cats will judge you for everything, let alone nearly killing them. Oh, yeah. Don, thank you for calling New Jersey 1.5. Yeah, a cat will judge you if it's used to dinner at 5:00 and it's 501. That cat is judging you. So, yeah, you can imagine that case. You know what? I'm kind of the same. Faith in Morris County, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Yeah. Hi. I have an really fun story. We went to a car show, got there, could not find my husband's wallet. Searched all over the car. Left the car show early because now we're concerned. Went home, looked all over, could not find his wallet. My husband's out in the garage. I go out in the garage to try and help him find it. And a guy pulls in our driveway, pulls up the wallet and said, "Are you guys looking for this?" He found it a mile away from our house. My husband had looked it. He had left it on the top and it stayed on it for a mile and then fell off and this man found it and brought it to us. But now wait, your husband didn't remember leaving it on the top of the car until this guy pulled in the driveway? No. No. He he knew afterwards that he left it on the car, but um Oh, well, because you said he was checking through the house. That's why I was like thinking like, well, he must have not realized. Sure. Oh, he Okay. Okay. There's some doubt. What happened to it? Yeah. If you're in that kind of situation, you got to be just so desperate that it's like, I will check every corner. I I didn't bring my wallet to the backyard, but I'll check the backyard. Yeah. Yeah. Like one of those irrational I'll check everywhere things. Faith, I'm glad it worked out, though. Thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. Stay with us for our next news in under 5 minutes. This is Jeff Daminsky. You know me. The Parks Casino chime time is 3:10 on this Monday afternoon. Oh no, there's the fall allergies. It's the Dinsky and More Show. I'm Kylie Moore and I'm Jeff Daminsky. Yeah, but you had that spicy meat stick and you had that uh spice chunk lodged in your sinuses. I thought that would clear everything out. Yeah, I thought that was going to clear everything out. You were in so much pain it didn't clear it out. Maybe shove another chunk up your sinuses. Well, I no longer feel it in my eye, so at least that's a plus. Yikes. Yeah. If you want the weirdest story ever, listen to the beginning of the 2:00 uh on demand after the show sometime. Look, it happens to the best of us, I hope. Was a weird one. All right, so our phone number is 1-800 283101.5. Buddy Velastro, Cake Boss. I really like this guy. He's just I just He's a likable, congenial, nice dude, very successful, and uh and everybody knows who this is. Even if you don't follow his shows or anything, I think you know who he is, right? And he had this what we would call a cringe injury or cringy, right? uh about five years back, a little more than five years back, and he just got through with his final surgery. This should be his final surgery. I believe it was the fifth and final. Can't believe it was that long ago. That's wild. And we're going to go back to how it started in a moment, but but he he put on social media this video of his uh right hand and he was showing how all he can do is this sort of this goes back. It's a Star Trek thing like the Vulcan where where where like you separate Yeah. Yeah. Except it's more three fingers and then the and then the pointer finger. But um or is it? No. Yeah, I think I think it was the three fingers. But anyway, they're most of the fingers are leaning to the side. They're not supposed to, but they're leaning to the side. He they're fully functional now. He can do anything. He can he can work. He can decorate intricate things. He can do all that, but it doesn't look right. And um and the final thing he has to do is there is a tendon that runs along the middle finger that in in the chaos of the accident, it got moved to the other side. And because of that, he he can't like put some of his fingers together. They're like leaning over and he hates how it looks. And so he's having this fifth and final surgery. Well, it went well. He's been recuperating, right? But a really funny part of it, he said, such a Jersey guy, he said, "Yeah, and another problem with all of this is I I can't I can't get my middle I can't give someone the middle finger very well. It takes a long time to get just my middle finger up. And he goes, "I can do it. I can do it." But it like takes a long time to get He's like actually demonstrating it in this video. And his wife is like, "Come on." No, that would be a concern of mine, too. He couldn't give the middle finger. I'm with him. Yeah. Um, so going back to how that injury started, though. This is the part, can I leave the room? that I'm fascinated with. If you need to, but I think you should listen. This goes back to September of 2020. That's how long Buddy Vastro Cake Bus has been dealing with all these surgeries. Buddy Velastro speaks out after terrible bowling accident. It looked like a Halloween movie was one of his quotes. This is on people.com, right? and he he talked about this terrible accident at their home. They had this like in the basement inhome bowling lane. It was a bowling alley and it was on September 20th of that year. He was spending some quality time with his family. There was a malfunction with the bowling pin setter. This had happened before and he generally knew how to fix the problem, but something went wrong this time. So he's trying to fix the bowling pin setter. His right hand becomes lodged in the machine and this metal rod impaled his hand right through. Right through one side right throughout the other and it did it three times. It went in, it started to come back out. It started to go back down again. It started to go back up. I don't think he was ever fully free, but it was just like eating through his hand as it was like raising up, stopping when he was still trapped, coming back down, stopping when he was still trapped. So, it's just like sawing his hand, right? And it was between his ring finger and his middle finger. So, it was like right there. And you know, he's got a scar now and everything. Velasro at the time recalled, "I looked at my hand. Blood was gushing everywhere. It looked like a Halloween movie. He said it was the worst pain he ever encountered in his life. Um, and then it got really crazy because he had to direct his kids. He says the pain, the screaming, and then something kicked in and told me to be calm because at that point I knew I was stuck. I was stuck in the machine. This rod was through my hand. I had to get out of there. After over five minutes past being stuck and impaled, he asked his eldest sons to use a reciprocating saw to cut the metal rod and free him from the machine. All the while he's trying to not scream because this went on and on and on. You imagine how long those five minutes felt. Herculean strength right here, right? This is unimaginable to me. And I mean, and I'm sure they also called 911 and everything, but yeah. Um, and and at the time he didn't know if he was ever going to be able to work again and do all the cake decorating and all the work that he does and etc., etc., but he's had multiple surgeries. He thanks his doctor, thankked his doctors a lot, and he finally got through that last surgery. Hopefully, that will correct the last disfigurement of it. So, that being said, Kylie's never appreciated this uh metal rod impaling Buddy Velastra's hand. Anybody got something similar they could share in the way of an injury that when you tell people what happened to you, you can actually see them visibly cringe. That's what makes a cringe injury a cringe injury. It's a little nuance. It's not just I broke my arm. It's not even I broke my arm in two places. Oh, that's bad. Of course, that's bad. But I'm not cringing. Like, notice how I didn't react to that. Right. Right. But you compare that to possibly a lesser in, you know, a lesser injury yet mentally if I tell you that I got a paper cut across my eyeball. Oh god. Right. The paper cut across the eyeball is probably going to make people go anytime more so than breaking a bone. Anytime there's a bone sticking through the skin, now that's where back to the bone. Now that can be the cringery right there. If you're actually seeing inside your body, now that absolutely would qualify as a cringery or that basketball player um was it Kentucky? Uh was it Louisville? But anyway, I just I remember he was a college ball player. Uh his name was Kevin Wear and uh didn't look like anything out of the ordinary. He just came down from like a jump and his entire lower uh leg just like snaps at the ankle and and his foot was aiming the wrong way. His foot was completely aiming almost backwards and they showed even his own teammates could not walk over there to comfort him because they were just about vomiting. It was so cringy. They wanted to. They felt horrible for him, but nobody could even look at him. That's how bad the Kevin Wear injury was. Wow. Almost like the Joe Thyman injury where you're seeing the bone, for example. You know, so yeah, we want to we want to explore the world of cringies if you have one. 1800283101.5 318. Here's Fast Traffic. Here's the 1800 car cash 323 with Jeff Deaminsky and Kylie Moore. We're going to have Annette's news in just under seven minutes. Right now, we're making Kylie squirm with your cringery stories. Cringe injuries. Stories where when you tell people what happened at some point in the story, they go or at least if you're me, that's what you do. Mhm. 1800 283101.5. Uh remember my Rawway friend uh Drake? Yeah. Yeah. Do you remember the thumb injury? Oh, the No, I remember yours. You know, Mike, you know it. I'm trying to find the photo of it to show you. Oh, that one. That one. No, no, no. Don't show me. Don't show me. Yeah, the one he sent the photo of. Uh, he cut I forget how he got it, though. Yeah, it was a saw. He and he just slipped. The wood slipped. His thumb went right into some kind of saw and uh it spled it right open. He could see the bone. Oh, come on. Where is that photo? I need to show you. I'm fine with you not showing. Are you sure? I thought you were going to say the story of your friend who uh cracked his teeth on Halloween. No, no, no, no, no. That's a different one. No, this one's worse. This one's far worse. Oh, I've got to find this before the hour is out. You know what? I'm going to Sometimes I just enjoy looking at it. That's ah maybe you should go to Aspire Counseling. Found it. Look at that. Look at that. Look at that, everybody. Oh my Oh yeah. Like you're seeing I think like the nerves you're Come on, Kylie. Take a look. I'm going to move the mic so I can't see you. All right. All right. I put it away. I don't believe you. So, I'm just going to go to Jason in Ringo here on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, Jason. Hey. Good afternoon, guys. Hey, Jason. I'm huddled like the Hunchback of Notredam to talk to you. The phone is put down. So, when I was about 8 years old, we were playing Army in the backyard of our our apartment complex and there was a hill. So, I was running away from the enemy and I slid down the hill as fast as I could and I ended up sliding into a rusted old tost and I got impaled and it went up through my thigh right where like right by your butt and it went up into my it went up into my butt and I was stuck there. So, my friends ran home and got my father. My father pulled me off the fence post and went to the hospital. Okay, now questions. I know I know you couldn't really see it, but you could feel it. Maybe your dad later told you in later life. How many inches of that pole do you think were inside? My my father said about four inches of the pole were inside. Up into my my thigh into my butt. And he thought it was a good idea to just yank you off of that. That was my question. Yeah. Like maybe they should have sawed it off and got you to the Because like what if it hit an artery and that pole was the only thing that was keeping it from bleeding out? Yeah. I I ended up with 47 stitches in the end. Wow. and a really nasty scar. Were there any health complications because it was rusty? No, but I almost lost my manhood. It was that close. Yeah, that's scary, right? That is so scary, man. Was your dad Was your dad freaked out when he came and found you or was he just in dad mode and completely stoic? I think he was in dad mode and didn't realize I was actually stuck or that I was just hurt. So when he pulled me, he pulled me like up the hill and he pulled me out of this bar. That was Oh, like maybe he wasn't trying to get you off. He didn't realize how far in you it was. I understand what you're saying. Oh, okay. I Oh my god. And then when he saw it, he probably wanted to vomit. He panicked and yeah, we we rushed off to the hospital in the back of the station wagon. Was there blood everywhere in the station wagon? Say again. Was there blood everywhere in the back of the station wagon? I that I don't remember. I don't All I remember is just a pain. How did your friends react? Were they like initially like he and then realized like laughing at first and then when I started crying they realized like holy crap he's really hurt and they all ran to my apartment to get my dad. Oh, I hate every part of the scenario. Jason, this story has legitimately made my like I felt my stomach turn. Yeah. I felt like the knot in the stomach. Well, we No, it's okay. We asked for it. We scheduled this for the 3:00 hour so that it would be well past lunch and well before dinner. But people are still going to be thinking about Jason's thigh during dinner. Jason, glad you're okay though. Thank you for calling the Jersey 101.5. Depending on who? Jason might kind of like that. God, imagine like Jason's partner. He gets home. She's like, "Oh, oh, we're having thighs for dinner." Like, no. Uh David in North Jersey, you're on New Jersey 101.5. How are you folks? My favorite Jeff and Kylie. How you doing, David? How are you, buddy? We're good. Hey, uh hey, that guy actually said he got stuck in a pole by his butt and had 47 in the end. And you let that go, Jeff? It was medical. It's medical. Okay. What happened? Okay. What happened to you? So, so I was actually drilling into what I thought was a wooden pole. I didn't know inside. What I thought was a wooden pole. Hate where this is going. Yeah. Really? I did not know inside the wooden pole, there was a metal pole. Oh, yeah. So, as I was drilling a hole, a drill bit broke. Another drill bit broke. So, I went to a bigger drill bit. Leaning on it full weight, it snapped where it goes into the drill through the nail of my finger at the base. threw my finger completely to the end till the sharp part was dug into the bone. I went up to the manager. I go, "I need to go to the hospital. I'm a huge joker." So, he thought it was one of those fake nails that wraps around your finger. Oh, the boy who cred wolf over here. And he tried to grab it off your hand. Grilled bit. So, they had a bus boy drive me to the medical walk-in. I walked in. The girl couldn't even look at me. He goes, "You got to go to the hospital. You got to get the heck out of here." So, now wait. So, you still had it. You still had it in your finger when you went there, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Wait. So, the kid is so upset. There's blood everywhere. I make him pull over so I can drive cuz he's driving like crap. Oh, you were tough. You were tough. I get to the hospital. The doctor's pulling on it. Pulling on it. I go, "It's a drill bit. You have to twist it." Yeah. Right. It's not going to come right out. It's threaded. Right. Twisting it out. And he he had to reverse twist it and pull it out because it was right up against the bone into the bump. I guess there was no other way. I mean, I guess. Wow. The blunt end went through, not the point, right? The blunt end where it broke off, right? Oh my gosh. Is Is your finger okay now, David? We're up against the news. So, real quick. Yes. And I'll have to call back because I have a story I witnessed that you guys, every guy out there will cringe and pull over. Oh gosh. You know, I can already imagine what that's gonna be. Yeah. Yeah. Wait for the next time we do this a different day because we got a lot of other people lined up here. So, just one story. But, uh, yeah, another time. Absolutely. Another time for sure. All right. So, what is your cringe injury story? What Kylie likes to call a cringery? 1 800 283101.5. [Music] Jeff, before we go back to things that are I guess you could call them creepy. I definitely call them horrifying and they certainly involve bones, right? Those things that you love. Yeah. I would like to point out that this is the final week of the Halloween decorations contest that I have going on on nj1015.com. Oh, speaking of uh creepy and bones. Yeah. You send you send your photos in of your house display, your yard, your lawn Halloween decoration display. Please make sure it is your display and your photo. Right. Right. That that's that's a must. And uh yeah, and as long as you give permission for Kylie to, you know, post them up so other people could enjoy them. And it doesn't have to be the most elaborate because somebody is going to win a prize just on a random drawing for having entered, not on who we think is the best Halloween decoration. So yeah, yours could be like, you know, half of another's, but uh yeah, you might just win some uh lottery tickets and get rich. I've been getting a lot of creative uh displays, and I appreciate everyone who has already submitted, and I also appreciate those who are going to now. You know, I'm living in a place where it's uh community living right now. I'm renting, right? I got out of a house and just right now I'm renting and so it's a it's an overunder apartment place. Okay. And somebody erected like a 14 foot tall skeleton and the upper 4t of the skeleton completely obscures the view of the of the balcony of the Yeah. Like like did you ask that dude if you could shove it? Yeah. Like so this guy on the upper floor, he comes out onto his balcony and like the skull is literally higher than his balcony rail. Like okay, that that takes some balls. But all right. Can you send me a photo of that? Not for this uh not for the contest, just because I need to see this now. Oh, I could do that sometime. Sure. Thank you. Yeah, it's right by the dumpsters. So Oh, I'm living large, man. Living large. Loving life. Yeah. 1 800283 101.5. We're talking about cringies. Mike in Plainsville, you're on, excuse me, Plainsfield, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. How you doing today? Hey. Yeah, I got I got a good one for you. All right. I'm a truck driver. Actually, didn't happen to me. I was driving um by Caucus train station to get onto the turnpike and a lady fell asleep. She was a night security guard and she hit the back of my trailer and she kind of hit the she clipped it and she hit the tire and it flipped her upside down and she had a sunroof and when I I helped her out the car and when I took her out the car she ripped her whole her whole arm from her wrist to her elbow. She was actually holding the bottom of her skin. Hold her arm together. Like a whole flap. Yeah, a whole flap. And she was screaming. I was trying to tell her to calm down cuz I thought she was going to pass out. Well, now I mean there's flaps. Ew. And then there are flaps. Like was it a flap that just had some of the bloody meat under it or could you see any bone? Did you see any bone? I see a whole bone. I see a whole bone. Oh. Oh. Well, now that's okay. That's Jeeoff, you are sitting on reacting to this. This is That is Yeah. No. All right. If you're seeing bone, that's deep. Yeah. Yeah. Luckily, luckily there was a paramedic passing by because he he pulled over and he wrapped her up and she was like, "Oh, I fell asleep. I fell asleep." And I drive gas tankers. That could have been way worse. Oh my gosh. It could have killed you both. Yeah. If she would have hit my tank, it would have been over. That would have been a realy for everybody. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Thank God everybody. I mean, relatively okay. I know she had some rehab, I'm sure, but thank God you're okay. Oh, thank you, sir. Yeah. Absolutely. No, thanks for the story, Mike. Thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. Uh John and Clark, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Yeah. Uh Jeff, uh do you remember Quinn and Bowden uh book depository that was on Elizabeth Avenue? I not only remember it, my mom worked there second shift. Well, what happened was I was I was actually hoping that Kylie wouldn't take my call after I dialed. Uh because this this this haunts me. This accident haunts me. uh I guess for the rest of my life it will. But uh I was hired to work in the offset uh press room. Uh and the only reason uh it was a good place to work was it was air conditioned because of the machinery. And I was working on a a 54x 77 inch printing press. I was um uh like the third person. I would just take care of filling the ink and uh the wall and stuff like that. And my boss my boss um he uh we used to keep the guards up because uh for safety reasons and um I can tell you this story now cuz he's he has passed away since. Yeah. What happened to him? Yeah. Well, yeah. Well, tell us about the accident itself. Well, what happened was uh they have these like spots. They come on a newspaper. They're like if you see a a a black uh page on a newspaper and you see a white dot, it's called a hickey. John, I don't mean to cut you off, but we are up against a brick. Too many too many details. Too many details. Real quick. Real quick. He was trying to take it off with his hand and his hand got caught in the machine and it ripped his arm off from the elbow down. And he never passed out. And it turned out that I was having I had nightmares for like a year after that. And it was the most horrible thing I think I could ever see. But he lived through it. He lived through it though. Somebody got a tourniquet on him and he lived through it. Exactly. And he never passed out. That is amazing. John, thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. All right, we're talking about cringe injuries. 1 800283 101.5. Get ready for a spectacular week. 352 with Jeff Damky and Kylie Moore. Danny's news coming up in less than 10 minutes. Yeah, he's going to be talking about that uh jewel heist. Ah, that shut down the Lou. Yes. Uh let's talk to uh Tom about a cringery. Tom, I'm 35. How you doing? Hey, what's going on, guys? How are you today? Hey, you all healed up. Uh kind of sort of. So, so what happened to you? And and make sure you make Kylie cry as you tell this. Okay. Give like the really gory detail. Okay. Kids could be listening. was working for a uh tow truck company and I was on the back of a flatbed trailer and we were taking steel off with something called a wall which is basically just a giant forklift and he my boss at the time asked me to lift up a piece so he can get underneath it. Oh god. Okay. In doing so, the entire load avalanched off the left side and I had no time to react. My leg got caught. I fell over about I fell off the trailer about four and a half feet, hit the ground, solid dirt. I broke 10 ribs on my left side, some in multiple places. One of them actually ended up puncturing my lung. So, I had a collaped lung and I have something called an AC separation, which is basically my collar bone shifted to where my shoulder is. And there is a knob on top of my shoulder that you can actually feel that is my collar bone. To to this day, they couldn't get it back in place. To this day, they cannot get it back in. Okay. Now, that's horrifying enough. So, I am not in any way downplaying this. I'm only asking when that collar bone broke, did it? No, the collar bone didn't break. It just completely just shifted. Okay. Okay. So, then that probably answers this. So, at no point was a bone like actually sticking out of your skin. Just pressing against out of the skin, but you can touch it. You can like I I can like Yeah, I'm touching it right now. Right. That sounds dirty. But uh yeah, for the last like 30 seconds, I've also been about a week touching my collarbone. I feel I feel like I mean there there's no way they can get that back into place. I mean like if you stop by here, I feel like if I had a rubber mallet from from the engineering room, I feel like I could help you. Tom, steer clear. Hey, I'm down for it. Let's give it a shot. So you I mean like like like doctors just said, there's nothing they can do. You're just going to live like that? uh without surgery. Yeah. Um but the surgery would lay me up for about six to eight months and unfortunately I need to work. Oh my god. Yeah. That's the better part of a year of your life, bro. I'm sorry, man. The surgery is almost like a ro like a torn rotator cuff. But otherwise, this is livable. You can just live with your collar bone not being there. Yeah, but I have limited uh I have like limitations on how how high I can raise my arm and whatnot. Oh man. Yeah, it uh Oh, what a choice. Like either way it would impact your work. It was the uh worst pain of my life honestly until the paramedics shot me up with ketamine. Oh boy. How was your lung recovery? Um it wasn't bad actually. it, you know, that healed pretty quickly, but the ribs took about I want to say about 8 weeks to completely heal. But with rib injury, when when your rib breaks, there's really nothing they can do because they're basically floating. That's what I've heard. Yes. So, they just have to heal on their own. Don't they just sort of like wrap you to not bump into anything or not even that? Not even that. Okay. Not even that. And when I had to sneeze, oh god, did that hurt. Okay. Oh man, cuz you're trying not to. There's actually a pressure point above your lip between your your lip and your nose. And if you press that, it'll actually stop you from sneezing. So I learned how to do that very quickly. Jeff and I both just started touching it. Yeah. And now And now you have 28,000 New Jerseyians in their cars touching between their lip and their nose to try to feel that spot. All right. Hey, Tom. I'm sorry. top that I'm so sorry you went through that man. Tom, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Danny's news coming up. You've been listening to the last few stories. And the Bed Parks online casino and sports book app chime. Time is it is 4:11. 411. And we are Dinsky and more. I'm Jeff Dinsky. I'm Kylie Moore. We were almost Jeff Deinsky, Kylie Moore, and my cousin Corey who decided to FaceTime me at 4:10 in the afternoon. He knows that you have a show, right? He does. What the hell was that happen? What? I don't know. With 20 seconds to spare, I had to be like, "I'll call you later. Bye. Love you." Like, literally, it was almost like he timed it. Do you think he just Do you think he wants on the air? No. Maybe he had breaking news. No. Oh, that's Well, that's what I was kind of worried about. No, cuz I wasn't sure if like, you know, baby number three is on the way, but I don't know. No, I was joking. I didn't even mean family news. I meant like, you know, this is cousin Corey and live at the Cheryl campaign headquarters. He's on vacation. Who is he is? Where? Vermont. The hell is he calling you for? Uh, so weird. I'm just kind of wondering if uh you know, they've already started if you know what I mean. Ah, that's probably that's probably a good bet. That's a good bet. Anyh who, it's Sinsky and more. No Corey to be seen. Yeah. Uh, so our phone number is 1-800 283101.5. Um, I'm gonna suck at this, but I think Kylie will be really good at this and I bet you a lot of our listeners will be very good at coming up with something, too. Is there anything you could think of, and I'll explain why I'm asking this weird question. If you could imagine almost anything that had been like a prop in a movie or a television show, a television series, whatever, whether it was like Norm's stool from Cheers, you know, whether it was, right, whether it was um a crazy watch that was also a weapon that James Bond wore in a movie, like Anything that you can think of, even if it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, even if it's not anything all that cool, but you just think for some reason that you would like it, what would that be if you could have anything? 1 800283101.5. Okay. You're so pop culture oriented. I feel like you would be great at this. I am. But here's one um one thing that's a little annoying is that some of them are from the Simpsons and that's quite frankly not a prop. But but no no but you know what but that's okay. Like if you could imagine it were in real life like in real life you would like what I would want the note that Lisa's substitute writes to her in the episode Lisa's substitute. Mr. Bergstrom gives her a note that reads you are Lisa Simpson and it's very very meaningful to her. You're going to get choked up now. It's the last thing that it's before he leaves Springfield. Whatever. Okay. I would have the you are Lisa Simpson note. If we're talking about I know the episode and I know you're going to get choked up by it. If we're talking about um live action. Yeah. Live action. Like a real thing. Like it was a real prop. Of course. Three guesses as to what movie I'm about to bring up. Uh Jurassic Park. Yes. Okay. Do you think I'm going to give you thinking music? Do you think you could guess what I would want from Jurassic Park? Uh, is it bigger than a bread box? It is not. Okay. So, it's something small. So, it's not the actual jeep. Actually, what? That was a little unfair answer. Cuz it maybe is bigger than a bread box. Okay. Um, it is, but the part that I would want from it would not be. Oh my god. What? Of course it of course it couldn't be a straightforward answer. Um, you asked about a bread box. Yes. No. No. I know. Oh, that's an oldfashioned way of asking. I know. I know. Um, you never heard the whole thing. Is it bigger than a bread box? I I just said I know. Oh, okay. So, you know. Okay. Um, well, I was busy over here thinking. What is in that that you would like part of the torch that Jeff Goldlum takes out of their Jeep and gets the uh and gets the T-Rex's attention with and gets it to chase him. The flare. No. Or the flare. Yeah. Torch flare. You know what I meant? Not the flare. Two more guesses. Sure. Uh, what else would there be? It has nothing to do with one of the cars. No. The toilet that the guy died on in the outhouse. When you got to go, you got to go. No, it would not be what Janiro died on. Um, uh, although that would be a main talking point of mine. The cable. You want to You want to see my toilet? The Sure. You can sit on a chair or you can sit on this. The cable during the T-Rex scene that he repelled over the side with with the girl to save her and was hanging onto that electrical cable. No. All right, I give up. The mosquito and the amber. Oh, that um Oh, his name is escaping me. Dr. that uh Hammond has on the on his walking stick, which is the mosquito that they took the Oh, dino DNA from. So, you wouldn't want the whole walking stick. You would just want the I wouldn't want the whole walking stick stick just as like a a coffee table decoration. Yeah, it would be the the mosquito and the amber. Ooh, that would be good. I think that would be really pretty, actually. Okay. Well, get some Hollywood connections going. Maybe maybe you could buy it out there somewhere. Also, quick side tangent. I watched the new Jurassic World this weekend. Jurassic World Rebirth. It is not as bad as people are saying it is. It's actually a very good movie. Is it? I It might be my favorite Jurassic Park sequel. Did you see it in a theater or stream it? Stream it. Yeah. And I'll tell you right now, cuz I see you looking at your phone. It has a 5.9 rating on IMDb. Undeserved. No, that's not what I was looking at. I was looking at I was looking at I was about to tell you the story of why we're even talking about this because Oh, something relevant. PE people.com uh there is a story and I've heard this sort of thing before by the way I've heard this before but people.com just ran a story about Michael J. Fox who of course was from uh Back to the Future movies. Everybody knows who he is and you know Family Ties way back in the day when he was young and of course the poor guy has Parkinson's now. Um he revealed what he stole from Family Ties when he left. Uh there was like there was like a little statue of a whale in the kitchen over the sink in the set of Family Ties. Okay. And I don't remember it, but for whatever reason, I guess they did so many scenes in there. He said, "I had a whole whale from Family Ties. the whale above the sink, above the stove. That is what he took. And he said it was a brass whale. I didn't take anything valuable, but that was the one thing that he for some reason wanted to take. And I don't know if he still has it to this day, but it was some sort of like little, you know, Bobsky thing, the little whale, and that's what he took. Wait, did he take anything from uh We have to traffic. Did he take anything from Back to the Future? Tell me after. That's the big story. I'll tell you about that coming up. But that is that that is actually almost the main point of the article. But if you could imagine any old TV show, any movie that you loved, whatever, is there is there a certain thing from that from the set, a prop that you would love to have? 1800283101.5 418. Here's Fast Traffic. Adam Corbin, owner of Corbin Electrical. Okay. So, of Back to the Future. Yes. Can I guess? Oh, what? Michael J. Fox. I'm Go ahead. It's got to be the skateboard, right? No, no, no. Or the hoverboard from Back to the Future 2. It's what he wanted to take. He can't take the Delorean. Not the Delorean. Uh, he kicks himself because he didn't take this. The iconic Red Gibson ES345 guitar. Oh, the guitar. The guitar that he plays. Your kids are going to love it. Right. Right. Right. The guitar that he plays Johnny B. Good uh on and and he says that he calls himself stupid for not snagging it up. And his exact quote was, "I should have taken the goddamn guitar." and he has always regretted it. And that guitar, that guitar has been missing ever since, like within days of that uh rap of that movie when they wrapped it up. No one has seen it since. Someone's got it. Someone's got it. And they say that would probably be worth so much money. Uh but nobody knows. And they talked to a number of people in this People article. uh and uh and nobody really knows where where it went, but he would love to have it. He would love to have it back. I would love for him to have it. And he has said before if and and you know what, with everything he's going through, come on, people. If somebody out there knows somebody who knows the guy or the woman who took the guitar, come on, let them know. Get it to Michael J. Fox, man. Look at what the man's gone through. I want that perm so badly. I know, right? I love that movie. It's not about the money. It's just Oh my gosh. Anyway, but yeah, it was the guitar that he wanted. Never never gets into if he did take anything. Actually, the only thing it says in that article that he did take was from the set of Family Ties, but that's what he should have taken from Back to the Future set. Other than that, would you What would you take? The Calvin Klein undies. What? Like, what's the other notable prop? I don't even remember the underwear. Who was wearing those? Him? Yeah, you'd remember it once you saw the scene when uh when he wakes up after I think maybe ladies might remember it. I I don't remember because when his mom when she's younger not realizing that she's his mom says, "Oh, I thought your name is Calvin. That's the name that was on your underwear." Oh, okay. Yeah. Calvin Klein. Yeah. Oh, Edipus. What a weird movie. Yeah. Mom was hot for her own son, but not realizing not realizing he was from the future. All right, so our phone number is what? We could go down that rabbit hole, but we won't. All right, so our phone number is 1-800 283101.5. Any movie or any TV prop, what would you want to have most? Vince in Philadelphia, you're on New Jersey. Want a 1.5? Um, so I know it's kind of old, but like Power Rangers. Yeah. Um, the Green Ranger, he had like a dagger. Yeah. And then he would like call his Dragon Zoid guy with and it would like play it like a flute. That dagger would be awesome to have. I'm surprised you would go for that over one of the masks. Yeah. I mean, the dagger was more iconic, I feel. See, I would go for pink ranger mask. I don't know. I feel like I feel like Vince is right. I feel like you could do more with a dagger. Okay. That's scary. That's a threat. What do you mean? No, just Well, but but you could also play it like a flute though, right? Yeah. Yeah. Works either way. Was that one of your favorite shows growing up? Yes, absolutely. A no. So, that would be very cool. Okay. So, you would obviously have it on how old it is now. You would have it on display, right? You wouldn't let people touch it. Oh, yeah. Absolutely not. Okay. You can look, but you can't touch it. Exactly. Well, now wait a minute. When no one's around though, are you going to bring it down and maybe play the I'm going to Vince is doing battle. Yeah. Yeah. But no one else is allowed. No, that's a great example. Vince, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Bobby in Hamilton, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, how you guys doing? Uh, yeah, I was thinking the uh the sofa from Married with Children. The I'm sorry, the what? For Married with Children. The sofa. The couch. Oh, the sofa you said. Okay. I'm sorry I couldn't hear. That would be somehow amazing and epic. That would be I don't know why I love that so much. It's like it's like the only sofa I could think of from a TV show that I agree with you. I mean, most of like it's like half that show took place on that couch. That's exactly. It was all based on the couch. Be awesome to have it like your basement. I'm going to ask you the same thing I asked Vince. Would anyone be allowed to touch it or sit on it? Oh, yes. Of course. I would let people sit on it all the time. Okay. But only if they put their several fingers inside the waistband of her pants, right? Yes. Exactly. Yeah. Bobb's not going to require it, but it is allowed. I think that'd be a cool thing to have. I don't know. I feel that's kind of required to be honest with you. How do you sit and you got to sit right in the middle if you're the guy? You got to sit right in the middle where Al did. Yeah. I guess this might be a guy thing. Yeah. No, Bobby, that's a great one. Um, I'm going to say one of the more iconic couches. The only other one I could think of is maybe that 70s show in the basement. That's true. Yeah. Other than that. Yeah. Now, I mean, there were there were the chairs from All in the Family different from a couch, but that would be the only other things I would put up on that level of fame is Edith and Archie's chairs cuz I can picture them. I could picture what Bobby called in the Married with Children couch. I can picture that 70s show couch. I don't think I can picture any other furniture from any other sitcom. Chair from Blues Clues. Maybe. Okay, that's not a baby. That's a capital Y. Yes. Bobby, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Yeah, I'm too old for the Blues Clues thing, though. That's all that that's what it is, you know. So, I don't have that. Sit in your thinking chair and think. I don't have that affection for it. All right. So, because of the uh story out about Michael J. talks and uh what he swiped from a TV set. What movie prop or what TV prop would you most want to have if you could? 1800283 101.5 [Music] New Jersey 101.5. All right, think about this and call it into us if you can think of something that would be on the uh set of a certain scene in a certain movie or uh on the set of a TV show. What prop, what thing, what item would you most want to have? 1 800283101.5. Calling in from Deepford, Dan, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Oh, hi. Good afternoon. I love the stage and I love the show. I've been listening since Carton and Rossy. Thanks to you both for keeping this alive. Appreciate it very much. Thank you. No, we appreciate you, Dan. Thank you. Yes. So, the um prop that I would like to have uh it's very expensive I think since this new series has has came out, but it is the prop from Squid Games and it is located inside of Front Man's Room and it is a stage and it is a jazz stage and has a bunch of little jazz characters on it and uh it's just really neat when the music comes on and they all get going and I really just want to purchase the entire set if I ever could. You know, I was going to say that's kind of a dark TV show to want to prop, but one of mine on the list is from Scream. So, I guess I can't judge, right? Yeah, exactly. How big or small is it? I've never seen it. I'm sorry. Well, from what I could understand, you the stage is actually made by somebody, so you can't actually buy that. You have to make it on your own. But the individual characters you can buy yourself. However, they do cost between one and $3,000 a piece. I believe Yes. Oh my god, that's insane. Okay. All right. Great. Well, hey, not an easy thing to acquire. Hey, thank you. We appreciate it. Thank you, Dan. I was trying to pull up a picture. I wasn't fast enough. Oh, well. Oh, but the one I was going to say from Scream as Wait, wait. Can I guess this one? Yeah. Uh, do you want thinky music or no? Sure. Uh, I don't want three guesses. I just want two guesses. Okay. Um, I feel like I've heard you say this once before, but I can't remember. You have not. I have not. But you can guess what scene it's from. Well, it's good. Oh, it's in only one scene. So, okay. Well, then I'm not going to guess Ghost Face Face's mask. I won't guess that. Um, the burst popcorn that caught on fire, Jeff. Yeah, it is. It is the Jiffy Pop. Really? You would take like like if you could Yeah, I see you wrote it down. Like if you could have the actual authentic Jiffy Pop that they that they burned on the set. But here's where I'm conflicted. You got so excited that I got it right. Yeah. Go ahead. What? I just love when someone else loves Scream. What's your conflict? I don't know if I would want the pre-burnt Jify Pop or if I would want the postb burnt Jiffy Pop. But either way, I would have it as a prop set on the stove just to worry people. Oh, I think you got to go post burnt because I think A, it gets the uh I think it gets the point across more and B, if it's not the burnt Oh, people are just going to think that I'm serving them. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're just going to think that you made Jiffy Pop and didn't open it yet. I mean, come on. All right. Adding Post Burnt onto the list. I mean, that's just my opinion. No, I could be wrong. No, that's fair. That's fair. One of mine. Mhm. a movie that um I can't remember if you hate it without having seen it or hate it because you did see it, but either way, the Winchester rifle that Ben finds and uses throughout the rest of the movie, Night of the Living Dead. Oh, have seen Wait, you think I hate that movie? I thought you did. No, no, I mean like I mean you and many others will like make fun of it, but I didn't. I love it, but I don't hate it. Right. bad sound, a lot of bad acting. It's like film. I know. But yeah, he finds this Winchester that I don't know. There's just something about it. I mean, it's just the wind chest, but I would want the very, very one that that actor actually held and used. Would you have it on or one of the ones if it was more Well, it was so low budget. It was probably only one. Yeah, I'm guessing there was one. You would have it on display obviously, right? Uh yeah. Yeah, like glass case. I don't know about a glass case. I might want to uh I might want to play zombie Attack every now and then with it, but only when I was alone. Oh, bless your heart. Yeah. Yeah. Like run around like a like a mental [ __ ] Just Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like pretending the zombies are coming, right? And then just like put it away when like normal people show up. You know what? Just like Oh, yeah. No, I wasn't doing anything. Just seeing the smile on your face. I do want that for you. Linda in board town, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. I know it's strange and it's not worth, you know, monetary value, right? I would love to have the army jacket that Quint wore in Jaws, the movie Jaws with Quint on the, you know, the name tag on there. I think that would actually be amazing. First of all, preaching to the choir. Second of all, Linda, I was trying to think of something from Jaws, but I couldn't. At best, I was like, uh, the license plate that comes out of the shark, which is from, I think it was Louisiana. Louisiana or Florida? I was trying to remember. Look at you, Linda. Linda, we need to watch honey. I could win any trivia contest you have on that movie. I got it. Quint Jacket Value. I don't know if this is going to come up. That or probably not, but I want the one he wore. Jacket draws movie. H. No, not no. I think it's replicas. Yeah. I would love to know if that's worth something though. Oh gosh. Yes. that or I was thinking and Linda, this is how lame I was going with like I got to think of something for Jaws. I was like, could I do something with the yellow buckets that they attach the barrels rather? Okay. Yeah, barrels. Use that as like I don't know. You could probably like put drinks on that, right? Like use it as a costume. I'm sure you could. Yes, absolutely. But I just He wore it. I love it. Even the bandanna. I take the bandana that he took off. You and I. There you go. Kindred spirits. I love this. Thank you. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. We got something. And it was Louisiana. Nailed it, Linda. Thank you. It was Louisiana. Look at that. Oh, good for you. Yeah. I've met I've met my match. You have Right. Right. Linda, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. I'll drink to your leg. Anyway, we delivered the bomb. So, all right. What is a movie or a TV prop? Something from a set that you would love to have possession of? 1800283101.5. It's Kylie. and I want to know how your back is. New Jersey 101.5 is Jeff and Kylie with you and uh we've got uh we've got news with Danny Dresenzo coming up in about 8 minutes right now. We want to know is there a movie or TV prop that you would love to own at 1800283101.5. Last one from me. Okay, this actually went up. I think it was for auction, not just sale. I think they were doing bids on it many, many, many years ago. um oldtime TV talk show host um uh Johnny Carson from the Tonight Show. He had that oldtime radio uh that microphone that sat in his desk. It wasn't really used. It was a prop, but he had that like forever. Yeah. And they were actually taking bids on it. And I actually thought about it, but it's like I'll never win the bid. And I can't imagine how much that went for. Not as much as you would think because I found out how much somebody got it for. Oh, um I think you were going to say it. What? 57,000. Very close. 50. 50,000. Wow. $50,000. But that was a long time ago. It may have switched hands since. And who knows what it was worth now, but yeah. Oh, I would have loved that. All right, let's talk to Stephen in Mammoth County. You're in New Jersey. Want a 1.5. Hey, Jeff Kylie. So, I have a combo deal for you. So, the uh invisibility cloak from Harry Potter with the bumblebee from the mad scient Well, the mad scientist creates it in um Richie Rich, the 2000 early 2000s film with Moli Kulkin. Yes, but a little Bumblebee. I got to make the joke, but how would you be able to find the invisibility cloak? Yeah. See, I was thinking someone would say the glasses from Harry Potter or one of the wands. Oh, well, yeah, that that that's true, too. There you go, Jeff. Nothing. No, I just I can't I I I can't believe you didn't go wand. That's all. Like, I would always go wand. I I thought I thought that being invisible would be pretty cool. That is true. You know, you could be invisible and then you you use your little bumblebee little mini drone and you could spy on people and stuff. It'd be interesting. Okay, but just if it's if if it's an invisibility cloak, what are you trying to find the logic in Harry Potter? But if it's an invisibility cloak, just just tell people you have it. Duh. I have it on display right here. Yeah, like pro, right? How are they going to prove you're wrong? It's invisible. Just saying. This is going to work on your next date, Stephen. Rest assured. Thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Uh let's talk to uh Shireena in Lumberton. and you're in New Jersey 101.5. Hi. Hi. Hey. Okay. So, I was actually debating. I said, "Well, I don't know what to choose." So, I I just Well, you talked about wands. So, I thought about Cinderella, her fairy godmother. She carries the wand because she can turn um animals into people and pumpkins into a big old coach. So, I'd love to have that on display. Oo. Which which version of Cinderella do you have a preference? Um probably the one with Brandy and Whitney Houston. Ah, the 97 one. Okay. Yes. Okay. I see you. Yes, that was great. Yeah. There you go. That's solid. Yeah. No, that's that's a great one though. I'm sorry. What? Oh, no. Thank you. Yes. No, that's a great one. Tire, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. One more nerdy one. Sure. Okay. Lewis insummit, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hello. Hey. Hi. Hi. So, um I had like four, but um the hoverboard from Back to the Future 2, that would be that one, the sword from Blade, the Chris Knife from Dune, and um Oh, god. Oh, that Oh, yeah. All right. Those are the ones. Oh, you had a fourth one. You can't remember it, can you? Uhuh. No, I wanted just because this is just because this was based out of a Michael J. Fox story. I definitely wanted to get Back to the Future 2 on there. The hoverboard. Perfect. I would like each weapon as he progressed up in weaponry from Falling Down with Michael Douglas. Yes. I think we're going to end on that note. No, it would be cool. You just don't know. You don't know the movie, that's all. Louis, thank you for calling New Jersey 1.5 Danny's news in 4 minutes. At ShopRight, we trickor treat. The parks casino chime time is 511 on this Monday evening. It's the Jeff Dinsky and Kylie Moore show. I'm Kylie Moore. And I'm Jeff Deinsky. Excuse me. Pardon me. I don't have fall allergies, so that came out of nowhere. I'm sorry. Yeah. At least I have an excuse. Homer. Homer. I just think they're neat. All right. So, our phone number is 1 800283101.5. Um, okay. I debated about talking about this because I don't want to come off like I'm bragging on her, but it's like you get to be a proud dad. That's all this is. My daughter uh went into the Coast Guard and um there was very very limited contact um except for mail and I only got one letter from her weeks and weeks after she was in basic training in Kate May for United States Coast Guard. Mhm. And uh the one letter I got, it talked about how she had to do manual arms drills, which is that um that's when you're lined up in rows and you're uh in complete synchronicity with rifles, your M16s, and you're, you know, switching to the left shoulder, spinning it, switching to the right shoulder, clapping it into the ground, and everybody is like in sync with each other. And uh they were doing a lot of that because they had some ceremonial thing they had to do in in in in front of like the upper brass and so she was like sweating that but everything went fine because um I finally heard from her. I got the uh sixmon not six month six week I got that six week phone call. Wasn't that the one that people were saying she would sound unrecognizable? Yes. Yes. Uh even the recruiter's office was warning people uh all you know any family that when you hear from this recruit it will not sound like them because their voices are very much like this shot. Oh yeah. And so I got a call and it was like hi dad it's Mina. It really is me but if it doesn't sound like me and she Oh yeah. Her voice was blown out. Is that really what she said? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yes. Because um everything you're doing, I mean, like they're barking the orders and you got to like, you know, full volume. Yes, sir. No, sir. I'm not even going to try to do it cuz I don't want to blow my own voice out right now, you know? Yeah. I'm not even going to try to do it. Um and uh and anyway, long story short, it was great to hear from her. A and she is graduating in two weeks. Congratulations. Yep. And uh see, I'm already getting like choked up about it. Okay. When you when you go into the Coast Guard, and this is all stuff I did not know. I had no idea. Um but one out of five recruits uh scrub out and they don't make it. They're either kicked out because they can't keep up or they drop out because it was much harder than they thought it would be. So 20% don't even ever graduate. Of those who will go on to 33% go through what's called a reversion which means where you're doing your best but you didn't keep up and there's a given week maybe even more than one week that you have to repeat and then you will then be in a later graduating week. You know onethird of them that didn't happen to her either. Wow. So she was in uh just about the the one half who kept up and she's uh just impressing the hell out of me. I'm just so impressed with this. I don't want to say kid. She's 18, but she's a woman. But to me, she's a kid. You know what I mean? She's my kid. But I'm just so impressed with this young woman. And on the 31st, I'm going to be off the show because uh uh I have to be in Kate May for her graduation. Not a chance I'm going to miss that, you know. So, when I get to the graduation, here's the thing. This is what I was getting to. How dumb am I going to look as a man? You know, because men have these dumb rules about crying, right? I feel like I'm going to start crying. Good. I feel weird. Don't I know. I know. Like intellectually I know they say like guys are allowed to cry. Doesn't mean you're not a guy if you know cry blah blah blah blah blah. I know that. But we men, especially of an older gender, we have it drilled in. You don't do that. You don't do that. I mean, like, you have there's many, many things. I will never know what it's like to be a woman, and I totally admit that. But I don't know how many women appreciate how much that is ingrained in you. You do not ever cry, ever. I think men as a whole can exchange feeling that emotion for getting so angry that they murder women. I understand. Totally agree. Go ahead and agree right now to make that exchange. Yeah, totally agree with that. Right. But I don't want to make this all about just like military service. But if you did have a son or daughter in the military and you saw them at that ceremony in any branch of the military, did you get choked up? I wonder cuz I get just choked up even thinking about it. I think I'm going to be a blubbering mess the day of. I really do. And you know, at their own graduations for high school, I didn't I I wasn't even close to that. But I just feel like what she's doing is so damn hard, much harder than high school. It's incredibly impressive. And I don't even think I'm going to be the same way. And I feel bad to say it, but when my son graduates, um, from uh from University of Vermont. I'm going to be proud. I don't think I'm going to cry. But in Kate May on Halloween that morning, watching her graduate the academy, the training center, I think I might cry. I think you should. And I think you should tell her. No, just welling, not crying. Nope. Nope. Never broke. Never broke through the eyelid. Nope. Nope. And so then I just thought I was thinking about this since I talked to her this weekend, right? How I'm probably going to do that. And I started thinking about all those times that people have said, "Well, Brian song, it's okay to cry at Brian song." You know, Field of Dreams. Field of Dreams maybe, but definitely like say Saving Private Ryan if you're a veteran. Totally okay to say cry at Saving Private Ryan if especially if you're a World War II veteran, right? Things like that, right? I want to know. And I'm not actually saying that guys aren't allowed to cry, but like historically speaking, right, what things are guys allowed to cry at, including movies? Like which movies do you not even bat an eye at if a guy would cry at such a movie? Like Brian Song, right? I think your own dad's funeral is absolutely obviously your dad or your mom, you cry. I think that's obvious, right? But I think society doesn't let us in a whole lot of other situations. Society doesn't let or we don't let Yeah, I have thoughts on that. We don't let ourselves because past society used to frown upon it. Put it that way. Okay. Right. Better. Right. And we should I know that. But yeah, we don't allow ourselves. All right. So, what things what what things can a guy get away with crying over? 1 800 283 101.5 519. Here's fast traffic. This your innie likes reds, but your Audi likes whites. No, my Audi likes reds, too. No, my out my Audi likes whiskey. For anyone who doesn't know, I I got excited because Bell Works is where they shot some of the exterior scenes for the show Severance. Yes. Which is what I'm referencing. Mhm. Otherwise, people think I'm having a stroke. Yeah. Really? any Audi, huh? All right, so uh it's I mean it's a ways off. It's coming up in like less than two weeks, but I'm going to be off on Halloween October 31st. My daughter is graduating from the US Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May. And I just know I'm pro I'm going to get choked up like beyond I think beyond choked up. there's choked up and then there's like you've actually got a tear coming out of your eye and I know I'm going to probably be blubbering because I'm just so damn proud of her and it's got to be so hard what she's been doing and uh and you know not only that but there are other moments in a guy's life where you think nothing of crying. You just get rid of all that stupid dumb ancient societal crap that tells you oh big boys don't cry and you just know it's okay. And then there are other times you would feel weird like like if you got called in as a guy, I'm saying, and your boss was reaming you out, you you cannot cry. You can't do that. There's no crying at work. You can't do it. H Yeah. You know, you can't you can't I would say that goes for either gender. Yes, it does. But I think a guy is going to even be looked upon even worse, though. Oh, no. We're just asked if it's that time of the month. We're called emotional. Is so messed up. That's so messed up. We're called hysterical. Yeah. It's like, no, maybe you're being an a-hole, boss. Maybe that's why I am. No, I get and I are vibing right now. She knows. No, I And and I know that happens to women and I think it sucks because that's like just like an utter dismissal of anything that is real. Yes, I I get it. I get it. But anyway, what things are what things are guys allowed to cry at? And this includes movies. Which movies? 1800 283 101.5. Howard in West Orange. You're on New Jersey 101.5. Uh, good afternoon. How's everyone doing? Hi. How are you? We're good. We're good. How are you? Good. Good. Well, I'm doing all right. I I mean, uh, so my son uh about almost four years ago uh signed up to be commissioned into the Space Force. Wow. Um, and uh, you know, so he got he went to I think Alabama for training and everything. And so we went down there uh, shortly for his graduation. And when I, you know, we got a rental car and I'm driving around, I'm looking for him. He says I'm by the barracks. I stand over there and I see him in his uniform and I lose it. And it was my wife's like, "Oh, wow. Look at you." I said, "And you know what?" Um, I said, "I know we're not supposed to cry." She says, "Oh, no, no. I I I like it." It's, you know, because it's authentic. Good, you know. Good. Good for Good for her, right? And also, Congratulations, by the way. That's impressive. Yeah. Yeah. It was pretty, you know, cuz, you know, you picture them like with the little macaroni thing as a little kid. Like, well, everyone made one of those things, but it's like now they're doing stuff that like not everybody can do. Exactly. Right. Right. Maybe even stuff that we couldn't do, but yet they're doing it. Oh, yeah. You know, and and we come from a time not too long ago that if you know in these tribal communities, if men cried to get killed, right? Sorry. We need you to kill stuff. We don't need you and drag it home, we don't need you to cry. You know, so it's just this whole evolution of we aren't supposed to. And like you said, it's a myth. It is a myth. No. And I know that. And I know that. But it's so funny because it's still ingrained in so many of us. Do you do you remember Do you do Did you ever see the movie Saving Private Ryan? I did not. But I saw an officer I saw an officer in a gentleman and when he when he goes and finds her at the end of the movie ah and picks her up and carries her I lose it every time. Yeah, I can see it. But all I was going to say was there is a scene in Saving Private Ryan, not about the audience crying, although older veterans were seen in movie theaters. It was the guys crying, not the women when the lights came up after that movie. But what I was going to say was there is a moment in that movie where Captain Miller, Tom Hanks character, he's just been through so much. He's had so much PTSD. They didn't even know it was called that then. And and he knows he's going to lose it for a few seconds. And he scurries off. He scurries down a little bit of a hillside to make sure that the men under him cannot see him. and and he lets it out just for a little bit, but he like very nervously like makes sure looking over shoulder scurrying down so that he is out of sight cuz you can't let the men underneath you seeing you fall apart like that and it's like yes guys feel this way even though it's stupid but we do sometimes we do. There's a somewhat similar scene in the pit where Noah Noah Wley's character Dr. Robbie. Uh, this isn't a spoiler. He He hits his breaking point and he has to like scurry, as you said, and hide and just like someone tries to walk in. He's like, "Not now." Yep. To just let it all out. Yep. Yep. Yep. Can't be seen, man. Great show. Howard, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5 and our best to your son. Um, yeah. And congratulations. All right. So, what what things are are guys kind of like in a sense allowed to cry at without, you know, anybody blinking an eye? And this can include movies as well. 1 800283101.5. Need help with your electric bill? What about Toy Story 3? Um, is that the one when he's going away to college and he's giving the the moment that he's giving the toys to the little girl? I may have uh gotten choked up but didn't cry. But I was like forcing myself to not cry. Okay. Yeah. But I was welling and I was like, "Nope, nope. You have a penis. You cannot do this. You cannot do this." So, you're just like going to give me the real answer off air or what? No, I really didn't cry. But I mean, but I'm but I'm saying how pathetic I was that like like I should just go ahead and do it because other movies I won't feel weird about crying. You know what I mean? But like that one, I would have felt weird to let the to let the tears actually go. You've never seen The Lion King? I never saw The Lion King. No, I never did. Mufasa. But you you know what? Let's take a couple calls first, but I'll give you a movie or two that I had no problem crying at. Whereas Toy Story 3, I was like, "No, can't do it. You're supposed to have testosterone. You can't do this, man." Interesting. I know. Linda in Punksatoni, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, Linda. I think it's a crazy stereotype that men shouldn't cry. I agree. My husband's a large guy. He rides a bike, you know, he wears leather, the whole nine. But he cried when his daughters were born. He cried when he adopted his sons. He cried when he married his daughters. But Right. But but those are times that a guy like But would he cry at a cartoon movie? No, but he would cry at other movies. Like I don't cry when I watch movies. It takes a lot to make me cry. He's the one who would cry before I would. Like he could a Hallmark commercial could make this guy cry. Okay. Okay. That's maybe but but all those other things you mentioned, those are when super emotional. Those other moments like your daughter being born or your son being born or you giving away your daughter th those are normal times I think where a guy doesn't question himself for crying. But does he ever does he ever feel weird about crying at a Hallmark commercial? I mean like he doesn't cry cry, but like he'll well up, you know, to certain emotional crying. I'm joking at about the Hallmark commercial, but he does get more emotional over like, you know, trigger things that they do people to be all, oh my goodness, like you know, the movie or the whatever. I'm just not I'm not a crier unless it's super serious. So every guy knows what I'm talking about. Welling is not crying. Welling is not crying. We have that line in the sand and it doesn't and you don't cross it. Welling can be crying and we can all be okay with it. No, welling is not crying. Everyone, it's okay to feel emotions. I think it would be so much healthier if we agreed on that. And I know you ladies are right. You don't understand how screwed up older men are. No, we do cuz we we deal with them, okay, to much lengthier degrees. Linda, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. How many times How many times have you seen your father cry? Um, I can I think Ken on one hand. There you go. There you go. And it was probably because somebody died or I don't want to dox him. Oh, no. No. Okay. You don't have to say it. Okay. No, that's Oh, now why? But I thought it was okay for men to cry. So why don't you want to say what times he cry? Because clearly men are the ones with the issue with him. Yeah. So he might have a hard time with it. No, I understand that. I was like, this is a personally this is a perfectly understandable thing to be crying at. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, and that's another one. What about And I'm not asking about your dad, your sports teams. If you go all the way to a championship game and your team loses or wins, it's a different kind of crying. Is it okay then? I think it is. If you're really vested and watched every damn game all season long and they lose, yeah, I think you can cry. The players are crying, man. The players are crying. What? What are you looking at? No, we uh we're hearing from Brendan Joseph in the other studio. Yeah. Brendan saying free pass for dudes to cry when they say goodbye to pets. What say you of that? I say I say absolutely free pass. I I I'm going pets over sports teams. Uh no, both get a pass. Okay. Now, not not if it's just like the freaking All-Star game. Screw that. No, you can't cry. And and you can't and you cannot even think about crying until it's like postseason. You cannot cry until playoffs. There's no crying until playoffs. And was that the first draft? No, but Brendan, if you're listening, I totally agree about pets. I did, but I had to put down a dog and I stayed with them and everything. Oh, yeah. Cried like a baby. That'll get you. Yeah, deservedly so. All right, let's talk to uh Ed in Surgeonsville. You're in New Jersey 101.5. Hi. This story isn't about me, but my son, he was on a he served on a fast attack submarine. Wow. And on a fast attack submarine, you have to get qualified on all of the different stations on the boat. Yep. To get your dolphins to be a a full seaman. And my So, and what happens is they bring you into the ward room with the captain of the boat and the exo and they ask you questions to see if you're qualified. And the question that was asked to my son, they said, "What would it mean to you to be a full qualified seaman on our boat and to get your dolphins?" And my son lost it. He just started falling. And the captain of the boat looked at him and he said, "Son," he said, "that is best answer I've ever gotten to that question." I was going to say, "I'm glad that was the reaction because you know what?" Yes. Yes. I I it's so it was so deeply personal to your son to be able to do that to serve in that way like that that that answer went to his very core. So yeah, I think that's I think that's very cool. That one gave me goosebumps, Ed. Yep. Yep. Best answer ever. It's even hard for me to repeat the story without getting choked up. I hear you. I was I was going to say I could hear it in your voice. I'm assuming he went on to pass. Oh, absolutely. got his dolphins and served for four more years on the boat. Wow. God, he must be so incredibly proud. Oh, absolutely. And he accused me of being an emotional marshmallow when I cried at his boot camp graduation. Did he? To just to just bust your chops or Yeah. And then he called me two years later to tell me this story. A wow. That was big of him to tell you. You know what? My daughter is so toughminded. I think she is gonna bust my chops if she sees me crying at boot camp graduation. Knowing Mina, I can totally cosign that one. She will. Yeah, you know where she Oh, she's tough, man. She's tough. She's going to be gossiping to her friends like, "Do you see my dad crying?" Yeah, loser. My god, that was so embarrassing. And thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. All right, things guys are or are not allowed to cry at 1800283101.5. This is Jeff Deinsky and one thing 552 with Jeff Daminsky and Kylie Moore. We're we're having a we're having a look inside. We're we're feeling our feelings. What is it okay for men to cry at? Yeah. We're just trying to go over some ground rules. It could be an event that you experience like Jeff is going to in a week and a half where his daughter is going to graduate. It could be a movie that you watch. It could be a TV show finale. It is okay to feel your feelings, men. Let it out. Let those tears fall. You're not making us feel better. 1 800283. See? No. One.5. Let me talk to a man. Okay. One in Bridgewater. Hey, let's play together, buddy. Let's do it together. What? Cry. Let's cry together. What? Right now? I can't. I love that. I can't. I feel like that would really bond us, guys. But but Juan, you you could I mean, I know you're a dad. you could understand if if if a well that that's what I wanted to say like you're a dad I'm a dad I mean I cried at my wedding I cried on my children's birth and then you know you guys were talking about movies who didn't cry when there was the speech at Independence Day right oh uh Bill Pullman I think his character the president that's it yeah and yeah that was that was a pretty inspirational speech I need to rewatch this movie yeah that was a very inspirational speech right but I mean I if based on everything you guys have been talking about. I should be calling it Crybaby then. Okay. Absolutely not. No, but wait. But wait now. Would you cry at say, you know those really bad Hallmark Christmas movies where Big City Girl comes? You're not going to cry at that, right? No. No, not at all. And you would feel a little You would feel a little weird if you cried at one of those, right? Absolutely. Yeah. No way. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm saying. So, you want one gets it. Guys, can I be honest? What? But let me let me say something though. Like you've seen I'm sorry to interrupt you guys. What I'm saying, you've seen like, you know, like uh young football players getting a scholarship, you know, at a at a at a college, right? And they're crying all all their bodies and everybody's crying all around them, you know? Maybe young kids are crying nowadays. Yeah. Yeah. Now, what were you going to say, Kylie? Uh I actually have two things now. So, one, you're stuck with me. First of all, I was going to say I actually even teared up at the new Jurassic World movie that I watched over the weekend. Okay, there's no crying at Jurassic World. I'm not going to spoil what happened. I didn't see it. I haven't seen it. That makes sense because everyone was poo pooing it, but it was actually like decent. Okay, what was the other thing? Uh the other thing was um Okay, this is embarrassing. Have you guys ever teared up when you see someone win Jeopardy and you can tell how excited they are? No. No, no, no way. See? Yeah. No fleeky way. Yeah. See, Juan and I are right. There are times a guy can and times a guy cannot. I I I cry for I cried when the World Cup was over because I'm Argentinian. So, I cried. What's the difference? You're watching someone win. But that's different. You're talking about the World Cup. What the What? Jeopardy. Are you Give me Give me a break. Because it takes years and years and years and all the training and the teamwork smart to get on Jeopardy. Oh, K. So, you're smart. So, you went on for Don't climb me a river. I will climb a river. I literally will. Go me a river. One just promised that we'll still be friends. I get it. One, guys. Have a good one. Thank you. Thank god you called cuz Kylie was doing that soft, you know, that soft uh therapist voice. No, thank God. Thank god we ended this with a guy. He didn't promise that we would still be friends. I'm nervous about that. We're going to have Danny Su coming up in 4 minutes on New Jersey 101.5. Gasco's family farm is open for the bet parks online casino and sports book app. Chime time is 610. It is a Monday and we are Dinsky and more. I'm Jeff Daminsky. I'm Kylie Moore. Hey, before we move on and I'll tell you what scary thing happened to I mean it was very brief but it was momentarily scary on uh on the highway today. But before that I never did get a chance to tell you this how um my daughter had called me. It was that 6 week phone call that you get when they are doing basic training for Coast Guard in Cape May. And yes her voice was shot and all that but I found out she did get her assignment. So So she and she thought she was going to have five days in between. Do you remember off the air I was telling you that like she would have from the from the day of graduation until she had to start her assignment somewhere Yeah. in the country there would be 5 days. Uh-uh. There's apparently an urgent need. And so she has Friday after graduation and then Saturday at 8:00 p.m. she has to return to the training center because she's being shipped right out. And her assignment is she's going to be stationed down in Virginia as port in Virginia, but she's assigned to a 300 ft Coast Guard security cutter. What does that mean? I didn't know. So, I had to look this up. Let's just like pretend I have no idea what you just said. Yeah, pretend. Yeah, I wasn't sure either. And so, I looked it up and it does all kinds of stuff. Um there's about like a hundred uh you know what would you call them? Troops. I have to learn all this lingo. Um about a hundred on board and it could go out for several days or several weeks or longer before returning to port. But they basically do the the smallest of what they do is uh maritime law enforcement where you know we're going to board your vessel. We're going to make sure that there's nothing weird on board. We're going to make sure you're got your licenses and all that, but above that they they intercept drugs for drug running vessels. Okay, they will intercept that. Um they will be part of homeland security as far as uh people sneaking into the country. Uh so illegals, they will stop that. And they also do search and rescue, which is pretty amazing and scary and Right. and that they do all of that. So, like any given day, you're never quite sure what you're gonna come up against. And yeah, there's like a full-on like machine gun on board and you know, it's pretty cool. It's pretty damn cool. Badass. Yeah, it Yeah, it really is. Okay, so this was not so badass because I I almost wet myself. Um Okay, I'm on No, not really. But I have a scary moment on Route One and it was very brief. It was done in like 5 seconds. But I want to know if anything like this ever happened to anybody. Have you ever been driving along and something either gets kicked up off the road or comes flying off of another vehicle? I'm not sure which one this actually was. I don't know where this came from. All I know is I'm in the left lane on Route One doing about 60. Okay. And I'm on part of Route One where as much of it does, it's got that uh several foot tall center wall, that concrete wall, right, with no shoulder. So, you're zooming along that wall. And to the right of me, there's a truck in the center lane. So, I can't go I can't go to the right when this thing happened. I'm about to tell you. And I certainly can't go to the left. I had to just maintain absolutely straight, right? Somewhere. I don't know where it came from. All of a sudden, it was just there. I don't know if it flew off a truck or what, but there was this piece of cardboard and it was big. And this piece of cardboard, it was several feet long and about 2 or 3 feet high. And it So, so just to clarify, just a piece, not like a full box, right? Not a box, not a carton, just a piece of cardboard. And I'm thinking, okay, well, even if that hits me, it's only cardboard, right? That's not going to be a big deal. So, it comes tumbling in the air, moving in different directions, and wouldn't you know, it hits my windshield, but it hit it so perfectly and with the speed I was going and the air and everything, it hit it in a manner that it stuck there and completely blacked out my my my vision. Oh. Oh, it literally just And that was it. Like I like I thought like, okay, it'll hit and bounce off. It didn't. It hit and it clung. I think it was just the absolute perfect angle and with the air hitting it with my car forward motion, it just clung to my windshield and I couldn't see a damn thing. Could you have used your windshield wipers? Um, didn't even think about that. I just I didn't think about windshield wipers. I don't know. I didn't think about windshield wipers. I just immediately uh lowered the window, my my my driver's side window, and I reached out and I grabbed it and probably a total maybe of only 5 seconds. It was very quick. It was not that big of a deal, but for about 5 seconds, I could not see a damn thing. It took about 2 seconds for the window to be down enough, and I just reached out, grabbed the top of it, and I just pull it sideways um to like release it. And as soon as like like say two feet of it got just the air in it, then it just like blew up and away. So I don't know where it went from there, but yeah, I think it blew off a truck or out of a pickup truck or something. I don't know. But all I know it was like a perfect uh screen covering my windshield for a few seconds. That's scary. Scared. Yeah, I mean it was like it was like I said, it was quick, but it scared the hell out of me, man. Because like right away I'm thinking like okay don't have my bearings and how close to the wall am I? So I started slowing down. Just ripped it off and then it was over. But yeah so right but I mean people have had far far worse than that like big heavy metal pipes or you know maybe you were in a real life version of Final Destination and a log came off of a log truck right at you. Things like that. What ever came flying at your car on a highway? Tell me the story if you have if you ever had something like this happen. 1 800283 101.5 like whether it hit you or not. Maybe you had to just like creatively drive just dodge it. Either hit the gas or hit the brakes, whatever. But what what came flying off of something or even just off the highway itself right at your car? 1800 283 101.5. I wouldn't say it was technically right at my car, but it was certainly right in front of my car and could have been. But the only story I really have is when I saw the um the tire come off a truck on 295. That works. That's very dangerous. Far more dangerous than than mine. Had to have been at least a year ago because it was dark while I was driving. So, it couldn't have been during the summer months because when you say truck, you mean 18-wheeler or you mean like small truck? Like pickup truck? 18-wheeler. Oh. Oh my god. Okay. But again, it was dark. I could barely see what was happening. I didn't realize I was in the middle of a story until I was in the middle of the story, right? But yeah, it was dark and I saw something bouncing across 295 and was like, I don't care for that. And I I saw the truck pulling over to the right side and I believe it went Yeah, it went into the I'm not going to get the direction right. It went over the median into the other lane. Yeah. Yeah. Northbound, southbound. I can't I I never I know that's always screwy though because Yeah, they always they switch it up at a certain point. Yeah. So, whatever lane I wasn't in, it went into that one. Yeah. But, wow, that's scary because I mean that could kill you. It could. That would be a kill right there. And being raised on Final Destination 2 with a log truck, I am constantly afraid on the roads. Right. Right. So, that was um that was uh spooky scary. Oh, the thing that never really happens, although sometimes it does. But everybody worries about it when you see those car carriers bringing new cars to dealerships and they're all kind of bouncing and jiggling. They got they have give to them. They're bouncing a little too much for my taste. Right. They have to they're meant to they have to have that bounce. That doesn't mean I like it. I know. No, I know what you're saying. I know what you're saying. Right. But imagine if one of those came at you. And by the way, and this could also include like if you had if you were in a road rage situation and somebody even like threw like a can of soda at you at your car. Hey, that's something flying at your car, isn't it? That counts. Counts for me. A big old rock being kicked up by a tire of a truck comes in, shatters your windshield. That counts. So, what came flying at your car on a highway? 1800 283 101.5. It's 619. Here's fast traffic. Scary good savings. This New Jersey 101.5 it is 6:24 and coming up at 6:30 we've got Danny Dresenzo's news. There is another FDU poll out about the governor's race. He'll tell you what the latest is there. So, have you ever had something come flying at your car? You're on the highway, whether it was a piece of something that came off another vehicle, something out of the back of a pickup, a rock, even kicked up off the road, whatever. But what's come flying at your car? 1800 283101.5. Ron in Middletown. You're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi, Ron. Hey guys, nice to talk to you again. Hey, welcome back. So, I was in Florida driving on I95 going from Miami to Disney World and uh very busy. Couldn't get out of either lane that I was in and about maybe four lengths ahead of me there was a pickup truck. looks like they were moving their house and all of a sudden the mattress comes flying off the pickup truck coming straight at us like straight up in the air like the flat side coming at us and there was nowhere to go. I couldn't go left, I couldn't go right. I just had to keep going. Um and luckily it hit the ground maybe 10 ft before we got to it and we just drove right over the top of it. Oh my gosh, that could have been so bad. So, okay. And luckily it wasn't the box spring. Well, that that Well, that was the other thing I was going to kind of ask. Um, even if it was just a mattress though, when you're going that fast, was it still like a tremendous jolt to the car or not really like what you would think? Oh, it was. Yeah, because l literally it hit the hit the ground flat. Like I said, maybe about 10 or 15 feet before we got to it. Um, but yeah, I mean, we're in a regular car, so there's not that much clearance. And luckily, like I said, luckily it was the mattress. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened, but we went right over the top of it. Did the guy Did you ever see the guy start to pull over realizing he lost it or do you think the guy never realized? No. No, he kept going. I don't think he realized it. He just kept going. Yeah. Did you look in the rearview mirror to see if anyone else was affected by it? You know, I don't even remember if I did or not. We were just so freaked out. We kind of pulled over and just like collected our thoughts for a bit before we kept going. We were totally freaked. I feel like that's been my only experience driving in Florida. Like at a certain point, you're just like, I have to collect myself. Right. Whether it's the rain or like the experience of possibly seeing an alligator or in Ron's case, a mattress, it's just like we have to recuperate. Or a flying alligator coming out of the back of a pickup truck. I'm sure it's happened. It's Florida. Florida man. Yeah. God forbid. Another Florida man story. Hey Ron, thank you for calling into New Jersey 101.5. We appreciate it. Aaron in Pennsylvania, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, how you guys doing? Hey. Um, I was my son and I, he had just gotten his learner's permit and we were heading um, south on 95 to a soccer tournament. I thought I'd give them some highway hours. We were on a five lane part of 95. Oh my god. Now wait, I have to jump in. You when you say he just got his learner's permit, you don't mean like this was the very first time he was driving, do you? Oh, no. Not not the first time. Okay. Okay. All right. I was going to say you you thought Aaron was the kind of mom who would just throw the sun into the deep end and be like figure out how to swim. Yeah. Like baptism by fire maybe, but no. All right. So, he's new to driving though. Okay. Not quite that bad. Um. Okay. So, it's five lanes. Five lanes heading south. Um, he's driving along and a truck's in front of us and all of a sudden a ladder comes flying out the back of the truck. I watch it happen. It hits the ground, is sliding towards us. Luckily, nobody's to the right of him, and he swerves. I saw our lives flash between our eyes. A mother's worst nightmare. And all I could get out was, "You handled that beautifully." Like, no words came out of my mouth to even tell him what to do. It happened. It was too quick, right? It was too quick to even say anything, right? It was just it was all up to him. It was like a I like was shaking afterwards and just told him, "Oh my goodness, that was you handled that. You could have not had done any better." Yeah. Well, and you know, and you know this as an experienced driver, Aaron, you know, the easy thing to happen is you might you might know to swerve, but you might overdo it and then lose control of the car. But he didn't. Right. Right. He did lose control and thank God nobody was next to him because he didn't even have time to look. Yeah. To not hit anybody. It was just I was shaking. Do you know? Did you look back like where the ladder went from there? Was there anybody else back there that it did hit? I didn't look. I mean, somebody probably I I can't imagine what happened. It was, you know, it was so fast. Everybody's going minimum of 70 down that part of 95. Yeah, it was insane. Some of these ladders, man, you'll see them on like a like on a work vehicle and they don't really look like tethered down in any way. Sometimes they're they're just kind of draped over the two upright hooks or maybe three and and they just like bounce along and rattle along in the sides of a truck and I just like you hit one mean pothole, man, that thing comes just flying. Yeah. Yeah, the bouncing. The bouncing really gets me. Mhm. Aaron, thank you so much for calling Jersey 101.5. Okay, so mine was nothing compared to any of these. It was just that a large wide piece of uh cardboard came flying off somewhere and landed flat against my windshield and just stuck there and like it complet like I couldn't see it. Like it was almost like imagine like your hood coming up and breaking and just completely blinding you to the highway. I've been there. That's sort of what it was like. Yeah, that's sort of what it was like, but just for the just for like 5 seconds. But what's come flying at you on a on a highway? 1 800 283101.5. Thanks to you, our grand opening 637 with Jeff Dinsky and Kylie Moore. We want to know, have you ever been in a situation where something came flying at your car on the highway? Were you able to avoid it? Did it hit your car? What was the situation? 1800 283101.5. And we don't mean a deer. We mean like a ladder, a mattress, even just like a piece of cardboard as it turns out. Yeah, I know that sounds lame, Kylie. It was scared me. No, I mean it like and I really like I wasn't even worried about it cuz I was like, "Oh, this might hit my windshield and just bounce right off." And it hit my windshield and just clung to it perfectly flat, completely blocking my view of Route One at 60 m an hour. That's what was scary, but only for a few seconds. All right, so uh to whom has this happened? Scott in Florence, you're on New Jersey at 101. You know, guys, I actually had two situations. One was actually a ladder. It was an 18 foot ladder. Oh. Um came off the back of a truck and just missed. I just missed by running it over and it actually blocked all like White Horse Avenue. Did uh when you ran it over like like it hit flat enough that you were able to go over it? No, no, no. I almost ran it over. I just missed it. Oh, you almost I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah. No, that's okay. Yeah. And then the other time was and I actually turned I went in the parking lot, pulled over, grabbed it out of the road, and threw it in the back of my truck. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. You're still there? Yeah. Actually, the other time I actually had a wheelbarrow fly off the back of a pickup truck right on Route 130. Oh my god. Scared really scared the hell out of my wife. But and that's another I stopped, pulled over, and threw it in the back of the truck. But see, with the wheelbarrow, it landed upside down. So, um, you know, a lot of people it just very lucky that nobody hit it. So, what's with this throne in the back of the truck? Like, what do you do then? You sell them on eBay? Like, what? Like, what? Oh, no. No. I kept it. I kept it. I kept it. I kept the ladder. This is mine now. The wheelbarrow. The wheel. Yeah. I never The wheelbarrow was like brand new. I mean, I don't fault you. I just I don't I don't blame you at all. I just never heard anybody ever say they did that. That's why it stopped me in my tracks before because I was thinking, did I hear Scott right? And and so like in both cases, I guess like the guy who lost the ladder, the guy who lost the wheelbarrow, they never stopped, I guess, to try to reclaim them. No, no, no. And I mean the guy I knew I said to my wife with the wheelbarrow, the ladder, I wasn't ready for it, but the wheelbarrow, I knew it wasn't tied down, and I said, "Watch, that thing's going to fly out of there." And don't you know, three or four minutes later, it flew right out of the back of the truck. She goes, "How did you not I used to be a truck driver. I've seen stuff fly out of people's trucks and cars." Right. You probably almost as a trucker, too. You probably get a sixth sense about certain things, too. Things that are about to go down. Well, that's what I said about the wheelbarrow, watch. That's going to fly out of there. Because it was upside down in his pickup truck, but it was kind of like sitting back and all it takes is a little bit of wind to get up under. And it did. It blew right off. But thank God it landed upside down. Right. Right. Yeah. And then Scott was like crazy, man. It was wild. And then Scott was like, "The ladder has a little brother now, honey." There you go. Wow. Scott, glad you're okay, though. Thank you for calling New Jersey a 1.5. If you have a crazy story like this, cuz I mean, it does happen often enough. And you know, even if you skillfully missed it or if it unfortunately hit you, uh, stuff that came flying off you on a highway or on a highway, rather. George in New Brunswick. You're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi, how are you? Good. I was um 2017 I was driving home to in to my place in New Brunswick and I was on Route 18 southbound. There was some road construction. The um shoulder was dug up and I was approaching the train trestle that goes across the Rariton Bridge. It's two lanes there. I was in the slow lane. I was doing about 60 miles an hour. There's a car on my left side in the fast lane and between the southbound and northbound lanes, the the concrete support is about 15 ft wide and about 3 ft tall. Just as I was approaching the ar the arch, a woman appeared from behind the arch and jumped into the fast lane. The car to my left starts to slow down. I'm trying to slow down to get behind it, but I can't because she's slowing down at basically the same rate that I am. She starts piouetting into the slow lane. So, I move over as far to the right as I can, but I can't go too far because I'll I'll drop like 10 inches and then hit the stone abutment that the arch is made of. She piouets, continues to piouette, and ultimately right into my left front fender. Oh my god. Up on the hood of my car and then is jettisoned up into the air. I slow down, come to a stop, and I look in my rearview mirror, and I see her body fall into the street behind me. Oh, no. And I think, I just killed somebody. And it was the worst, you know, not my fault, but it was the worst feeling. Yeah. It sounds like she probably more killed herself, man. She was unheard. She She survived. She was survived. The whole car was airborne. How could she survive? She was She was totally wasted. And the uh the the doctor said because she was so drunk, they think that her body was so flexible, she rolled with it. She just she rolled with it. So she rolled with it. Yep. That happens. It was a crazy moment. Oh my god. I am so sorry that you had to deal with that because of course you would feel that that guilt in the moment. Yeah. And I was I was stopping at home and then heading to the an 80th birthday party for the mother of a friend of mine, which I went to, but it my first thought was I I won't be going after I've killed somebody. See, I thought you were going to say your first thought was you walked in, you were like, uh, shots. Yeah. Yeah. Really? Wow. Wow. That's crazy. Yeah. They say they say that if you don't stiffen up, if you're just like really loose, that you could avoid a lot of injuries like that. And that's why a lot of drunks end up being the one that walks away in a crash. The victims see it coming, they tense up, but the drunk has no idea what's going on. They Yeah, man. That's nuts. Yeah, that's a very unfortunate and terrifying story. George, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. No one has to top that. Yeah. Really? Really? Yeah. I mean, like if a gas can came out of a pickup truck at your windshield, that totally counts. A tire comes off a car in front of you, that counts. That's all good, man. All right, so who's had it happen? 1 800283101.5 is a paid political announcement. Wouldn't you? New Jersey 101.5. Steve Trevalis coming up. Danny Dresenzo's going to be before that in about 8 minutes with all the latest news. And uh we're talking about we're talking about those times that you're on a highway happens in a blink of an eye. Something comes flying off a vehicle perhaps right at your car. What's happened to you? Steven Redbank on New Jersey 101.5. Oh, I got this one. So 1975. I don't know if you know what an Opal GT looks like, but picture a miniature Corvette. So my buddy says, "He's got a roof rack and he puts two surfboards on it." And I said, "I don't know, Tim. That doesn't really look too good to me." Oh, no, no, it's good. It's got suction cups. So we have two cars. We go from Middletown down Kings Highway to uh the Parkway and we get about as far as Long Branch and Janine's following him and all of a sudden we see the surfboard starting to shake a little bit ahead of us. He's He's And we're following him and all of a sudden, boom, boom, two suction cuts, blast off the roof, and the surfboards are standing up straight up in the air on this Opal GT. It's like, yeah, he's making an Opal GT. It's like a air air foil, right? It's just starting to and and so and Janine luckily, so you know, she pulls out of that lane and I'm thinking like, man, one of those kegs is going to go through the windshield. And uh as soon as we get to the other lane, boom, both surfboards blow off and uh they would have been like right on us. And so then um you know what we do is we you know we pull over and we're like, "Okay, surfboards were still intact." We re-rig up the thing and put a strap on it and proceed. We didn't even know how to surf, but we were heading to Long Beach Island with the surfboards. And I was like, "Oh my gosh." Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. You didn't know Wait. You didn't just say you didn't know how to surf. That's not what you said. No, no, no, no. We were going to go learn. You didn't know how to surf. Oh my goodness. No surf. Yeah. Or or or how to transport them. Well, yeah. I I I questioned it, but anyway, I got to let you guys go. You're the smart one. No, thank you. We appreciate the story, man. Steve, thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5 and for learning how to properly secure surfboards. Really? Somebody had to do it. Jason on 78. Hey Jason. Hey. How's it going? Hey, we're good. So, so driving up 287 going across the old Tapenz Bridge when there was still the toll booth there. I was driving a work truck with a trailer generator behind it. All of a sudden, I see a puff of smoke and it's like, it's a tire. My coworker stand sitting next to me. He's like, "Huh?" It's like, "It's a tire. It's literally passing me." And I slowed down, came to a stop probably 500 feet away from the toll booth. The tire went and hit another car in front of me and then bounced over and down the embankment. Two old ladies get out and pick up part of their bumper, confused as heck as to how the car broke and there's nothing there. Now wait, so this was a tire that you lost off your vehicle. Correct. It came off the trailer behind me as I was slowing down. I assume. I just wanted to be clear. Yeah. All right. Well, so now what do you do? I mean, since they seem confused, do you just uh do you go over? No, I No, it was the right thing. I I went over, we talked to them, gave him our insurance. Okay. The bridge commission brought our tire back and we found four lug nuts had broken off. Just sheared off. Nope. So, it was right when they were doing Yeah. They were repaving 287, so it was really rough. Mhm. The trailer was bouncing around hard because of the way they milled right on the edge of the lane. Yeah. Wow. So, yeah, it is. It was not fun. But Kylie, how are you kidding? Kylie, how are you feeling about driving home tonight? I think I might be sleeping on the couch in the lobby. Jason, thank you for the story. We appreciate you calling New Jersey 101.5. All right, we uh we got a scadattlele here. Steve Trevalis is uh going to take you into your evening and we will talk to you tomorrow. New Jersey 101.5.
