SOUTH BRUNSWICK — A collision between a dump truck and a tractor trailer closed down a portion of the New Jersey Turnpike late Monday morning.

The big rigs collided around 11:40 a.m. in the northbound outer lanes, north of Exit 8A in South Brunswick, according to State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn. A picture by witness Brandon Aufiero taken minutes after the crash showed a UPS tractor trailer jackknifed across the outer lanes with the rear trailer tilted to one side.

All the northbound outer lanes were closed with an inner lane rubbernecking delay as of 12:45 p.m. There was also a southbound rubbernecking delay.

The cab of the truck was resting on the driver's side of the dump truck. There also appeared to be some guard rail damage.

Aufiero said he saw the driver of the UPS truck standing on the side of the road. Flynn said there were no serious injuries in the crash.

There was also a fluid spill.
