BRICK TOWNSHIP -- Extra police are present at a middle school following the discovery of a threat.

Brick Police said "all students are safe and secure" in response to the threat written on the bathroom wall at Veterans Memorial Middle School.

Police will be present in the school throughout the day. Students were "monitored" as they got off their school buses and some backpacks and bags were checked by school personnel.

Many parents went to the school to pick up their children after they were notified of the threat by police and via a message from the school.

A 15-year-old sophomore was charged with causing false public alarm for writing a threat  on a bathroom wall at Toms River High School North earlier in December. The student also faces a possible expulsion from school.
