August 17th, 1955 - Elvis releases his first number 1 hit, ‘I Forgot to Remember to Forget’. It hit the top of the country charts in February of the following year, and remained for 5 weeks at the top. It would be considered the only traditional country song Elvis’ group ever released.

August 18th, 1984 - George Michael becomes the first person ever to hit No.1 as a solo artist and member of a band at the same time.  It was today when his single ‘Careless Whisper’ went to No.1 in the U.K, but it was a success on both sides of the Atlantic. It reached number one in nearly 25 countries and sold close to six million copies worldwide.

August 18th, 1986 - Bon Jovi releases their third studio album, Slippery When Wet, which would hit No.1 on the charts, going on to sell over 28 million copies worldwide. The set featured two New Jersey favorites, ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’, and ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’.
