June 26th 1961- Gary U.S. Bonds began a two-week run at number one on the US charts with his single, “Quarter to Three.”

June 27th, 1967 Mick Jagger is arrested for possession of drugs found in his jacket at a party hosted by Keith Richards. He was issued prison number 7856 and held overnight at Lewes Jail in England. While staying the night he requested books on Tibet and modern art, plus two packs of cigarettes.

June 28th, 1977Elton John achieved a lifelong ambition when he became the Chairman of the Watford Football Club, a professional soccer club based in Hertfordshire, England.

June 29th, 1984Bruce Springsteen kicks off the first leg of his ‘Born in the USA’ Tour. The first set of shows are in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Civic Center. Springsteen will go on to play 156 shows ending a year later, October 15th, 1985 in L.A.

June 30th, 1966The Supremes record ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’. This song would become their 8th number-one single later in the year when it topped the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart for two weeks in November.

July 1st, 1983 – A New Jersey based band called Bon Jovi signs to Phonogram’s Mercury records. To this day they have released 11 studio albums, sold 130 million records worldwide, played 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries plus Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
