JERSEY CITY — Prosecutors say a shooting at a Jersey City church hall has left a teenage boy dead and two teenage girls wounded.

But a motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired went to the Communipaw Avenue building around 11:25 p.m. Tuesday.

They found 17-year-old city resident Leander Williams had been shot in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

The two injured girls, ages 12 and 16, both suffered upper body wounds.

The older girl was found sitting in a chair at the hall. She was treated at a hospital and was later released.

The 12-year-old was found at a nearby restaurant. She was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
