I'm all for getting into the swing of the holiday season and I am a huge fan of Halloween but this is just crazy!

I walked into the local grocery store by me in Old Bridge and this is what I saw. I couldn't believe it. A huge Halloween display right smack dab in the middle of the store, It used to be that you'd see Back to School displays in stores earlier and earlier every year. Now we're going to get Halloween shoved down our throats in July? C'mon people!

My other gripe here is beyond just the store's display. I seriously question anyone who is actually BUYING the candy out right now and holding it for Halloween. I'm sure it is going to taste just wonderful by the time October 31st rolls around.

Or as Amy Zarrow, wife of Meteorologist Dan Zarrow pointed out on my Facebook page, any of us with the sweet tooth, that candy will NEVER last until Halloween. So if we don't have stale candy, we're going to be replacing it, possibly multiple times between now and the holiday. Other FB friends left comments ranging from "WTF!" to "NO! NO! NO!" to "Stop," "Unbelievable," and "That's just wrong!" So I obviously wasn't alone in my frustration.

So by this theory then, I guess we can assume we'll be doing our Christmas shopping by late August? Just stop the madness already. We don't need to be rushing us into the holiday season when all we want to do is sit on the beach or by the pool and enjoy the summer.
