Pennington police tell The Times of Trenton that 35-year-old borough resident Corey Mitchell also faces weapons charges stemming from the stabbing, which occurred around 9:10 p.m. Saturday in a third-floor hallway at the Hopewell Gardens apartment complex.

Police say Mitchell stabbed the 44-year-old woman multiple times, but didn't say what sparked the confrontation. She was being treated at a hospital, but further details on her injuries were not disclosed.

Mitchell was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being taken to the Mercer County jail, where he was being held on $250,000 bail. It wasn't known Sunday if he's retained an attorney.
