Reporters on Wednesday were supposed to get a preview of Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom at the Ocean County park. However, state inspectors are still reviewing paperwork and haven't granted an operating permit.

In a press release, the park says, "The ride is fully operational and in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications" and adds that "Six Flags respects the function and responsibility of the Carnival-Amusement Ride Safety Unit of the DCA and looks forward to their inspection soon.

Riders will be hoisted 415 feet in the air and dropped back to the ground at 90 mph. Adding to the thrill: The park's Kingda Ka roller coaster trains will hurl toward riders on Zumanjaro at speeds of up to 128 mph. The three, 41-story towers will feature gondolas for eight riders.

The ride is scheduled to open to the general public on Friday, July Fourth, if the state has signed off.
