Police Unity Tour Riders Bicycle Through Newark
Dozens of police officers from the United States and several other countries are bicycling through New Jersey as part of a fundraising effort that will culminate in the nation's capital.
The Police Unity Tour riders are raising money for a museum and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial fund. They made their way through Newark on Wednesday, passing a police memorial at City Hall that's dedicated to fallen officers.
The tour was first organized in 1997 by Florham Park Police Officer Patrick Montuore. Organizers say it raised $1.5 million last year toward building a museum and memorial.
This year's ride is scheduled to reach the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington on Saturday.
