MIDDLETOWN — Township officials are investigating an incident Monday in which they said a man was bitten by a pit bull.

According to the Middletown Patch, the incident happened inside a home when a man was bit in the groin, causing a considerable amount of bleeding. The man, according to the story, was taken to Bayshore Community Hospital for further treatment.

The dog was able to stay with its owner, who was not the man who was bitten, as the investigation continues.

Authorities did not say whether they know what led up to the attack.

This is the second known incident involving a pit bull in the state in the past week. Last Friday it was reported that a Newark man had directed his dog to attack officers who were trying to arrest him. An officer shot the dog to prevent the attack. The dog's condition was not known after the incident.
