Toms River Police are investigating a Route 37 crash involving a pedestrian though no arrests have been made.

The Asbury Park Press reported that at 9:45 p.m. on Friday night, township resident Shaun Nichols, 37, was struck while standing on the highway near the Aqua Blu restaurant in Toms River. According to the report, Nichols was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he is currently being treated for serious injuries.

In a news release, police said Seaside Heights resident Jesus Leonor Hernandez was driving the 2005 Chrysler that struck Nichols. Though Hernandez, 27, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while having a revoked driver's license, he has not been charged for his alleged role in the accident.

Police said the crash is still under investigation and more charges are possible, according to the news report.
