PATERSON — Police are investigating a shooting in the city where six people were wounded and at least one person died.

The incident happened a club at 86 Main Street where officers responded at around 5:30 Sunday morning, according to Paterson Police, who did not identify the club.

The shooting victims were found in the parking lot and in the club. Police said four people taken to St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center by ambulance with two others taking themselves to the hospital.

According to police the person who was killed died at the scene but their family had not been notified so no further information was being released about them.

The club shooting came just a few hours after another reported homicide in the city. Police were called to the 200 block of 16th Avenue around 11:45 on Saturday night where they reported finding a Hispanic man lying on the ground. The man, later identified as 20-year-old Paterson resident Edward Andeliz, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center Emergency Room where he died.

The incident is being investigated by the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. Police are asking anyone with information about either shooting to call 973-321-1120.
