State officials are advising drivers to use caution and patience during Friday's afternoon and evening commute as snow continues to fall in much of New Jersey. No state of emergency has been issued but residents are asked to keep "unnecessary" travel to a minimum.

Gov. Chris Christie authorized an early dismissal for all state offices due to today’s winter weather conditions. A "staggered closing" was issued, beginning at 2 p.m. for state offices but did not include "essential employees," who were expected to complete their normal shifts.  who shall remain until the normal close of business.
