LYNDHURST — A corrections officer with the Bergen County Sheriff's Department is facing charges after a woman told authorities he had sexually assaulted her as a child starting nearly 15 years ago.

Alan Carrino Jr., 42, of Lyndhurst, was charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child after a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Bergen County Sheriff's Department.

Bergen County Prosecutor Burbir S. Grewal said the woman told authorities the assaults happened when she was between the ages of 12 and 13-years-old, which led to an investigation by the Special Victims Unit.

Carrino was taken to the Morris County Jail pending arraignment with a first court appearance scheduled for Friday.
